mtx stuck in first gear

my mtx is stuck in first gear. worked fine all day. i started off at a stop sign after no problems shifted cleanly to second then all of a sudden it wouldnt go into 3rd so i pulled over and put it in first and now it wont come out of first, leaving me stuck on the side of the road w/ all my school stuff since i was on the way back to school. any ideas where to start?

Cable shifter? Prolly just bound up from a cable end comming off or you broke something. Best go under & look & look inside center console.
