My water pump idler pulley bearing is screaming, so I guess its days are numbered.

Anybody know where I can get a new one?

The measurements are 20mm center, 37mm outside diameter and 15mm thickness.

I have found 20mm center, 47mm outside diameter and 14mm thickness.

If worse comes to worse, I could always make a custom aluminum pulley and use on of these bearings, but it would be easier to find the original.

is it the actual water pump or is it the tensioner pulleys?if its the water pump then you have to change the water pump if it the tensioner pullies then i believe you can use a bca bearing number 203ff

Since nobody has shown physical proof that they have found bearings that fit in the pulley, and I didn't have time to fool with it myself, I just bought the pulley and bearing from FPN a while back. Lots of people have said they've found bearings that work, but not much more than that.

OT: Jose, sometime after I get my car running good again, I really want to come down to meet you. :thumbs_u: And check out the SHOrt Shifter.

bearing and pulley

Well, I just need the bearing for the tensioner pulley.

It seems that this would be a weak link in the life of the SHO as they get older. Having one of these go out would definitely put the car down.

Isn't there a surce for these?

I will try the suppliers.

The one screaming is a used replacement. This is the second one to go out in one year.

Like I said, I can always make a custom pulley with a 20mm inside diameter bearing. Maybe I will look into making these pulleys and bearings available.

AHA! Now that's not a bad idea. If the price is good and the replacement bearing is an easy off the shelf part that would be a great option. :thumb:

Aren't some people using the GenIII idler pulleys as a replacement?

What size (ID) is the insert that is pressed inside the bearing? I found a 37mm OD 12mm ID 12mm thick self aligning bearing that may work.

I did some more reserch and found a single row, deep groove bearing that is 37mm OD 12mm ID and 12mm thick and I found another that is 37mm OD 20mm ID and 9mm thick. One of those should work.

2 bearings

You could stack two 9mm bearings to get a combined thickness of 18mm. That is only 3mm thicker than thw original. If they are sealed bearings, it could work.

Where did you dint them and what is the part number and manufacturer?

mistake

I made a mistake.

The bearing which measures:

20mm internal
37mm external
15mm thick

is the bearing inside the alternator belt tensioner pulley. This one is OK.

The one that is screaming, is the water pump tensioner, but I have not taken this one out yet, so I do not know the measurements.

This pulley is different. I will probably pull it out his weekend.

I have both pulleys here in front of me. The bearings appear to be identical. They have the same part numbers and the same dimensions.

bearings

Great, they are both the same.

Tomorrow I will stop by MIller Bearings here in Miami, and see what they have that could serve this application.

The 12 x 37 x 12 is a 6301 size bearing and the 20 x 37 x 9 is a 6904. If you don't know, the 4 digit number is the "standard" number for a bearing of that size regardless of the manufacturer. You will often see letters after the numbers; they denote the type of seal (or seals) the bearing has. The definition of the letters vary by manufacturer so you will have to verify the seals yourself unless you know the manufacturer codes.
