Also, it doesn't bolt up at all.

Doesn't even come close at all.......sad because the spline count for its axles is the same. I tried to fit a focus torsen in an mtxIV......it wouldn't. A $500 diff sure would have been nice.

I considered the MTX75 gears, at first I was impressed since they offered the straight cut set as well but overall the gears and syncro's weren't good enough.

The perhaps canfield can make an adapter for you or use the 3.0L canfield, weld up the 5.0L holes.

I can't remember where they said the break started. But it looks like it was the pinion and it spread from there.

There is a mazda gearbox that'll bolt to a sho engine as well, I think its the H-type IIRC. You'd actually need two different ones to make it work though. The bell housing side of the case from a 3L Vulcan out of the first gen probe gt, and then also the case and internals from a F2T powered probe gt or mx6 gt......gearing might be weird, but my friends f2t mx6 is putting over 500 ft lbs through his stock h-type. I believe there are less expensive differentials for those as well.

The mtx75 differential appeared(I didn't have anything to measure) to be a different diameter where the ring gear bolted up.

The transmission from a vulcan powered first gen probe LX will bolt up to the SHO with minimal modification ( a little bit of grinding to clear rear oil seal thingie) the ratios on the transmission on the LX and GT probes are a little bit different but internally everything is as strong and interchangeable.

I had never even considered that trans until seeing it hold an f2t. PR, I assume you probably know the guy that goes by celicahalftrac on the probe/mx6 boards.
