I thkink I found the issue. You have the vac hoes from the throttle body to the charcoal canister solenoid the one that gets cracked all the time. Well the hose on the opposite side of the solenoid had pretty much cracked in half when I lifted up the hose I had a bit of gas drain out no a lot but some. It also smelled strongly of gas so I'm thinking this is my issue it probably happend when I took the engine out of the car. I will see what happens to my mpg.

thanx bob Just FYI when you see a pudle under your car what do you do????? leat it leak? Or check it out and fix it?? I work at napa and I noticed it in the parking lot so inside grab some tubing back outside fixed costs all of oh idk $2. Problem is I can't check my cel at work because we don't have an obd1 scanner. And since I didn't get off till 6 for the last three days I haven't had the time. Thanx for the info tho.

I never said to not fix a leak. And you never said anything about a puddle. However, that broken line is most likely not the cause of your poor MPG.
You also don't need an OBD1 scanner to run codes. You need an operational CEL, and a paper clip. That may cost you oh idk free!!!11one.
I'd love to only have to work until 6.

My CEL light doesn't work Idk why the light is good. But I went and got it checked at autozone with their crappy scanner and it wouldn't connect. So I went over to orielly's and checked it myself in their parking lot with there $500 scanner and it still wouldn't connect so something is amiss the plugs were in right I'm wondering if when I did the engine swap I didn't reconnect a ground????

Did the CEL work before you did the swap?
A poor ECM ground will make the car not run at all. Doubtful it's that, but do the rest of your gauge cluster lights work?

All my other lights work yea. And yes I got the codes checked about 3 weeks before the motor swap. At autozone with the crappy code reader and it worked fine.

Well I have solved 2-4 issues at the least.
1. I forgot to plug in the module for the butterflies.-Fixed for sure
2. I may have solved my gas mileage with this.-I do not know yet
3. Cruise Control has not worked in a few weeks I didn't know why. The cable had come off of the throttle body.-Fixed for sure.
4. My CEL issue I found a little grey set of plugs behind the intake (pass side) the were not connected I reconnected them.-That may have been the CEL issue idk yet will find out tomorrow.

Don't take my advice.
Butterflies will stay in the closed position when the vacuum lines are not connected, so that didn't contribute to the em *** geez going down.

I'm not talking about the vac lines. I'm talking about the plug for the butterflies. I don't know how to describe it. But the plug is the same at the IAC electrical plug.

Gen I bias
1. The butterflies will be open if the wire harness is UNPLUGGED AND the vac hoses ARE connected AND the engine is running. They will also be open if the vac lines are NOT connected. They will also be open if the engine is off. The ONLY time they are shut is when everything is connected and the engine is running below 4000rpm
2. With what? Do you mean the butterfly issue? I'm not sure if this affects mpg that much. Never tried to leave them open all the time. I know it runs like crap at low end though if they're open.

4. The little grey set of plugs is what you use to check the codes. There's nothing to plug them into. BTW , even if your CEL light doesn't illuminate you can still get the codes with a paper clip and a test light or a "crappy" Ford Lincoln Mercury code reader.
Sounds like your puddle of gas on the ground was the real MPG issue though.

Not the single wire plug for the diagnostic tool. Two small grey plugs behind the intake that is held inside that metal wire harness holder.
I'll take a pic of it if that will help.

Yea thats part of the engine harness. If it was unplugged it would probably throw a code for whatever sensors you d/c on the other side of the plug.

It was a very small plug 1 maybe 2 wires.

Flat gray plug or small oval plug ? I think there are 2 black oval plugs 2 grey oval plugs and small flat gray plug that run into that bracket.

Ok so the grey plug fixed me not being able to scan the car.
