I got a quote from the dealer for $502.00 for 2 motor mounts installed. Does this sound right!!!????

They tell me this is why my car clucks when pulling out and braking.

Thanks

That's way to high. They sell the mounts for $100 a piece. So they're charging you $302 for labor. That's too much. Get a seccond opinion

That`s way high. You can to the front without even jacking up the car if you needed to.I`m not sure that`s your "clucking"

Thanks...I'll get another estimate. The 'cluck' was actually a thump....when I pull out or stop I feel the steering column move. It's got the shiny spot on the intake and more torque steer than ever. Are the mounts something a weekend mechanic can do?

I did the test in the Shotimes FAQ and didn't see the motor rise!?

The 'clucking' must have been a slip of the fingers - I got chicken when I heard the cost!

If you are going to replace you front and rear motor mounts then you should really get reinforced ones. I bought mine from Performance Plus and I think they were around $220. I had a local mechanic put them on for $100.

Mine makes a knocking noise when I let off the brake at a stop sometimes. I think it's either motor mounts or strut tower bushings. But it's just a noise, so I'm not going to worry about it for right now.

I have the shiny spot but the engine doesn't rise either. And I have newer reinforced mounts. Might be the hood insulation blanket dragging on the motor. I am going to get a front mount from SHONUT and finally install the trans mount and see if that helps. As for the thump or clunk, I would highly recommend replacing the subframe mounts. Go with the aluminum from SHONUT, also.
