Hi all

I was looking at some of the information on tunes for the 2013+ SHO and see in most features that it says reduced torque management and modified shift points

What doe this mean in the real world?

One of the things I really notice on my SHO is that it holds 1st and 2nd gear much longer than I would like when just driving around town. I often find myself flipping the paddle to get it to change up from the lower gear at low rpm.

I get that under full or rapid acceleration you want all of 1st and 2nd, but when just driving in traffic I want it in 3rd or 4th asap and then just to ride the torque of the engine

Does the tune address this or does it make the situation worse?

Our other car is an 07 335i auto, by comparison this car shifts into higher gears much much sooner than the SHO.

Thanks

To put it simply, the reduction of torque management feature in tunes keeps the revs up when shifting resulting in a faster, firmer shift. Modifying shift points sets shift points at optimal HP/TQ from gear to gear, to stay in the power band.

Thanks Dave, that makes perfect sense.

I come to my SHO from a lightly mod'd 2010 GT mustang with manual transmission. Its probably just me but I was used to just riding the wave of torque in that car, I find the auto in the SHO is too willing to change down to lower gears under moderate throttle and tool willing to hold lower gears when moving off from standstill

Same when compared to the 335i

Guess I will get used to it over time, or I will continue to flip the paddle :)

probably saves alot on wear once you think about it. You do accelerate it somewhat rapidly just feels like a electric car sometimes lol. do find it holds 2nd alot but usually when its cold Id assume thats to warm it up it isnt smooth at all . On the highway i feel as though i gotta put it into manual to get it to drop gear like i want it to pass/merge.

theres not so much a torque wave as a torque line lol.

That's interesting. In my '11 it seems to shift sooner than I'd like it to under moderate throttle and I'm running Torrie's tune.

Interesting, I guess you cant please everyone all the time, we all like something different based on out specific driving needs/styles and based on the type of roads we drive on.
