Hey everyone,
Just pulled out my motor last night to start rebuilding it & ran into some bigger problems that I don't know what to do with.
My 2 issues are:

Issue #1) I am missing the connector that should plug into an A/C switch of some sort that is located attached to the A/C line muffler in front of the radiator. The A/C wasn't working when I bought the car a couple weeks ago and I'd really like to get it running but I don't know where the connector for it should be! It's like someone cut it out or something , but I can't even find any wires where it would have been. Here are a couple pics:

Does anyone know what exactly this is and where the connector should be or connected to? Maybe if I Know what it is supposed to do and where it should be, I could find one and wire it in somehow??!@?

Issue #2) The car was running like crap & leaking coolant and oil bad when I just bought this so I decided to pull the motor & just do a minor rebuild (plugs, wires, timing belt, water pump, set valve adjustment, cam & crank sensor, head gaskets, valve gaskets, cam & crank seals, oil pan & rear main seals, intake & exhaust gaskets, new Ford Performance Specialists Y-pipe w/ Cats, Power steering pump) but I was told to check compression before I pulled the motor. I asked Doug Lewis (FPS) and he told me compression should be about 250 on each cylinder. However when I did compression check last night 5 of the cylinders were running around 200, while #1 cylinder was only like 150. :omgsho:
My concern is I've already gone way over budget here and not sure what to do. We confirmed the timing was set properly, so do I need new piston rings or bearings or what? I'm freakin out if this is worth it or just find a different motor or something? I"m no where near capable of doing any of those things on my own and from what I hear what it would cost me to do I don't think I can afford it if I need it.
The added fact that I may not have working A/C adds to the problem because if I cant have A/C this won't be a daily driver for me (which I wanted it to be) so then is it really worth dumping all the $ into the engine or just do what I was going to do with it anyway & let it run?

PLEASE HELP! :hail::hail::hail::hail:

That switch is the high pressure cutout switch for the A/C. It is used on all systems with factory R134A refrigerant.

The PO may have swapped stuff around. If the donor car had R134a but the recipient car was an R12 vehicle, that explains the lack of connector in your car. Another possibilit is that the PO had eliminated the connector for whatever reason.

As for compression, the lowest should be within 75% of the highest. I'd only expect 150-200 psi as readings. Your readings are not abnormal.

How long had it been since the engine was last run before the compression check?
I bought the car about 3 weeks ago now and other than moving it in & out of the shop a couple times it has been sitting. The car had been sitting for 5 days outside before I let it run for about 5 minutes to warm up the oil (to drain out) before pulling it into the shop & then it was turned off and cooled down for about 1 hours before the compression was checked.

Your thoughts Storm-Chaser?
