They don't make the Double Plats anymore and the V8 doesn't need them anyway. The COP ignition has no waste spark cycle.

Get the new Fine Wire plug. AGSF32FMF4 Be sure to check the gap as most plugs come with too wide of gap for the SHO. .044 is what you want.

Ok I will try that. I took the coils to autozone but they informed me that they had no way to check my coils and told me to take them to the dealer. does anyone know how much the dealer will charge for that?

They need to check them on the car and will charge big bucks. FWIW handling them tends to make them bad for what ever reason.

You can check them with an ohm meter and tell if it is completely dead. Between one of the input connectors and the output spring should be around 5k ohms or so. Open or shorted are both signs of it's demise.

Bosch plugs SUCK ! :boink:
Correction, they suck in the SHO from most opinions. I have had them in almost every car I have owned including the wife's 360 powered RAM 2500 for over 100,000 and it purs like a cat. I also had them in the SHO for 300 miles and developed a miss, which after changing them out was still there. Finally reverted back from the cool sounding K&N cone under the hood to the Porterized air box and the miss went away. Guess it was a coincidence that the spring temperatures jumped into the 90's that week aggrivating the issue.

I ran a ohms check on the coils and they all were fine, i am going to order the AWSF-32FM plugs from www.carparts.com

Yes, just remove the surge tank (as one piece, don't remove the runners from the tank).

There is a procedure for testing coils with a meter over on http://www.v8sho.com, but it's not terribly reliable since you can't exactly duplicate the conditions where misfiring might occur.

this is a good site for surge tank removal, although i did not need to remove the air box. http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/street/7499/sparkers.html

Just loosen the hose clamps. The rear support brackets are a PIA to get at even after you remove the passengerside winshield cowling.
