I was looking at an 05 Taurus se a few weeks ago. Was going to trade my Malibu for it. Very clean car was fully loaded with everything. It didn't have the Dohc engine though and turned out it was Salvage title. The damage done wasn't even bad though....anyways my point is. The cars mirrors had puddle lights on them. Really liked them anyway they would for on my 96?

Funny you mentioned the mirrors. I saw a "newer" Taurus that had the puddle lights in the mirrors as well and was wondering if they would fit on my 98 SHO?

Wiring is different I'm sure. I don't know how the puddle lamp circuitry is, and under what circumstances the lights would come on. I guess you could have a relay that turns them on when the interior lights come on. I.E. opening a door, unlocking door with the remote. Also make sure you get later mirrors with puddle lamps with heated glass.

You would also lose the body color mirror housing.

For the 96 it should be a snap. You can pick a leed from the door reflector lights to power the mirror lights. The only other thing I was thinking with those housings don't you loose the heater mirror?

On the 98 I think you would have to find another door switched hot, Seeing that they don't have the lighted reflectors.

I have a writeup on taurus club to add these to a Gen 3. Once you run the 2 wires for the puddle lamps into the interior, ground 1 wire out, and tap the other to the interior light wire (blue w/black stripe or vice versa, I've forgotten need to check manual) in the passenger kick panel.

Or if you have footwell lights under the dash from the factory, tap into the power wire there on each side.

Any 96-07 Mirror will interchange with each other, 02+ Tauruses (and Sables) have the Puddle Lamp option from the factory.

You wouldn't happen to have a link would you?

The 05 I looked at was heated as well. So I guess I have to options of where to tap into do I need to worry about to much power being pulled from that certain fuse?

This mod just topped my list after my new mufflers.

Sorry wow I never replied with a link.

Here you go: http://taurusclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69447

Just tap the power in for lights since your SHO is prewired for heat already.
