Mid Engine SHO Powered Truck - New Pics

Hey Guys,

I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I would post some new pics, and an update on what's left...

Since last posting, I finished the brakes, basic electrical (it will start), steering, fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, started extending cab, and coolant lines. Only things left now are: Throttle Linkage, Shift Linkage, Finish Extending Cab, Exhaust, Front Firewall between radiator and gas tank, and Sensor Electrical (temp sensor to dash, oil pressure, etc...). I have parts and plans for everything but the gas pedal linkage and firewall and I have a good idea what I am going to do, just haven't committed yet.

you secured the steering with a piece of flat stock ? your kidding right?

thats just about the worst possible option, the only worse idea would be to tie the rierods off to the frame with rope

as both a car guy, and a stuctural steel fab guy, ive got 2 voices in my head saying that this is a HORRIBLE design

What about the third voice that says "You already cut the frame in half just back-half it."

that 3rd voice is in the corner, muttering to itself, scared for its safety, convinced the world is doomed

i love the tractor gas tank .... im sure its dsigned to the same exact safety standards that are required for a AUTOMOTIVE gas tank, im sure it wont fail the first time u hit some debris in the road on a cold day

or when the sho snaps off from the truck and both halves go different directions

Wow. I don't know what to say. Maybe, be careful, make sure your insurrance is paid up, don't tell your insurrance agent the fuel tank is in the front and made out of plastic...

Wow. A+ for effort and creativity...not the way I would have done it. And yeah, definitely redneck as ****. Not a bad thing in itself, but...

I would recommend taking out a few more (dozen) life insurance policies before driving this... thing. I think the frame probably won't separate on you, but that's kind of like custer saying "Ok, as long as we hurry, we won't run out of water!" I.e. that frame is the least of your concerns.

That gas tank is scary. I really hope you rethink the location before you drive it. Also, I would alert the local fire department, EMS, coast guard, ANG, etc. before you drive it.

I hate to be like shoaz, but this really seems like one of those ideas that seems really cool, but in reality doesn't work at all. Like the Pinto, or the state of Utah.

Maybe your right, but you probably could have been a little less of a **** about it. No one likes to hear someone call their project "retarted" after putting so many hours of labor into it. By all means express your concerns of safety, but theres no need for put downs.
