Maplight, moonroof switch brackets

Okay, I searched and found oodles of posts on the switch repair.... But what about repairing the metal brackets in the console itself. Epoxy, liquid nails(which one?), JB? I was gonna try the real good 3M double stick tape til I got a real good look at the rear mount and how it hooks to the tabs from the ceiling.... Kinda stuck, here. :bonk:

get some epoxy, its the yellow/tan really strong stuff. coat the bracket it in so either side is covered completely and press it in the console. the epoxy doesn't stick all that well to the steel so i put it around the bracket so either side touches the plastic of the cosole. strong as steel. maybe i should do a write up as i do have one here that needs repaired.

Yeah, I was kinda figuring to totally encase them in something as the Ford idea didn't work for squat... Where would I find the epoxy you've mentioned? Lowes, Wal-Mart?

I found some kind of LocTite Brand Plastic specific @ Lowes.com lemme see if I can link:http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=44649-133-44649&lpage=none

Hey, it worked! That looks good too! I found over the years some epoxies melt plastic. This one lists all kinds of plastic its good for right on the label. Even flexible... OOh, what about Gorilla Glue? I've heard good stuff about this. It's supposed to be the *******! I've got a couple things around the house to fix with that... Looks like a trip to Lowes tomorrow, oh boy look out X-Mas crazies!

I gooped them puppies up real good and placed them back in their spots. They seem real solid now. I re-install it tomorrow. Now I gotta find some lenses for the map lights. I take it they're another pos that falls apart on these cars?

Well I installed it today. The fronts ended up cracking free. But it wont hang down because the wires are encased pretty good. As far as the lenses I don't know never seen on intact. I see what appears to be a "hinge pin" all the way across the opening opposite the button. I guess they just snap on the pin and the button?

yeah you put them in button side first then snap them up into place. to get them off i push both buttons stick a very small screw driver in the center and push to one side or the other. one will pop off then you can pop the other one off. yeha if they are broke there's not much you can do with them..
