This happened to me a few days ago...when the parking lamp switch is turned off, the brown wire (+) sees ground. This wire was tapped by my alarm to supply a + signal to give a parking lamp confirmation flash anytime the alarm would arm/disarm. Since the parking lamp wire is now for some unknown reason grounded, there's now a conflict between the two wires. Does anyone have a Ford EVTM manual handy? I don't know where it could possibly be grounded besides the actual switch itself, but when I turn the lights on, everything works as it should.

I got the manual but its at home- umm.. first is the alarm still connected- also without seeing and you just telling- i gues the alarm was hooked up kinda half ***..

First every alarm has outputs and relays- the wire going to parking lamps ahould be indeed positive from the alarm. When alarm is activated it sends a + signal to that particular wire. which this results in making the lights hot and illuminate.

What i would do is find out whats + and - from that light switch which i remeber doing my buddies 95 and i do remeber that brw one is hot and should be when lights turn on + and than goes ground when there off. so that wire is the + to the parking lights when made hot from turning the switch.

Hope that helps maybe its not hooked up wrong after all

The ford manual shows the brown also going to "automatic headlamps-delayed exit" and to the digital clock. It also goes to the instrument cluster, the I/P fuse panel, then on to the dimming rheostat. If the brown wire goes directly to the lamps, then when the lamps are not on, that is no current flowing, you should read the lamp elements resistance which may be quite low as there are several bulbs in parallel. With the lamps on, the elements are the load, so you should see +12 at that same point.
