I tried installing my CD player in a 1989 SHO. I couldn't find the wiring schematic anywhere but when I connected the radio with the standard coloring scheme the radio came on Ok when I started the ignition. All the lights in the dashboard and interior (doors etc)were out when I started the car again and the radio doesn't come on anymore either. THe car starts and runs Ok and the headlamps comes on but not the indicators. I am hoping it is just a fuse. Does anybody know which one or what else could have gone wrong?

First off, unplug the radio.

Then, check Fuse # 8. It is common to the radio memory, interior lamps, digital clock, illuminated entry/keyless entry, and power mirror circuit and is the most likely suspect.

A wiring diagram can be downloaded from http://www.ford-taurus.narod.ru/

Select 1989, then get file # 3 Give the file transfer plenty of time, the site is sloooooow.

WOuld anybody happen to know the color code for stereo hook-up in 89 SHO. I got the speaker wires down but not sure of the battery and ignition wires. I will also try using a tester.

Just installed my receiver by bypassing the amplifier. I did not realize the file had the diagram for the audio setup. It had everything I needed. Thank you man!
