Is there anyway to get the LPM to be able to tune say Lightning 80/90 MAFs????

Just wondering. I would bet even at 6-7 psi the 80mm is maxed out.

Right now, the LPM chip is limited to the LPM software. In this case, for the ATX, LPM software can custom tune a MAF curve.
In the case for MTX, it can't. This is a limit of the software. In the near future, we might have an LPM replacement, where you can have a greater MAF selection.

The LPM service is offered as a "legacy" service, to help the SHO community. Because of the limited and proprietary nature of the software, and chips themselves, it would not make sense to try revive them as a new tuning solution.

Again, the LPM makes sense as a cheap and alternative solution for basic scalar changes, like Idle, RPM limit, slight spark advance, etc.

The LPM tune I gave you is based on Vadim's old SC tunes, and works OK because you are using the SS 47 injectors, and Lincoln 80mm, which Vadim worked for years with. This setup works OK, but not optimal.
Eventually, you will probably go with Accel injectors, and a Lighting MAF, like I did. This is the point at which you really want a tweecer.

As far as a possible LPM replacement, this would simply fill the LPM gap, and only for simple mods, although I'm sure there will be a much greater MAF choice. We really want to avoid the "tune-by-mail" scenario created with the ShoSHOP and Ted B. Of course now, we have much better solutions, and the tweecer is my preference.

I have an LPM and had Ted B reprogram it twice via mail, but the car ran lean and hot; notably worse than stock so removed it. What are you guys able to do that is any different ?

I would recommend putting the tune back to basically stock, minus the 80mm MAF, and higher idle for the UDPs, and maybe add a little spark across the board for some kick. Also, probably have the cooling fan come on a little earlier than stock, which is what ShoSHOP always did. Then go from there.
Won't know exactly what Ted changed until the LPM is read.

I have a Hypertech chip for a 91 MTX(obviously, Duh!!). I used it in some previous cars and always removed it before i sold the car. I have yet to install it into my current car. Can this be reprogrammed or is it permanently set where it is?

Not sure on the Hypertech. It might have some sort of proprietary architecture like LPM, or tweecer that make it hard or next to impossible to read or program without Hypertech's software/hardware.
You'll have to search around for an answer.
Just remember that any chip solution is only as good as the software that can program it.

Not sure if we can or not. We can start with a picture to see if we can maybe work on it. If theres a shot we can try it.

sorry to revive an old thread. Looking for information on the Ted B. LPM. Does anyone run LPM's anymore or is it all computer based tuning? :thankyou:

What's the charge for that? I just came across one with an unknown tune, but was with an x2j. Any way to tell if they are good besides retuning and trying? Are you able tell what one has been previously programmed for when you hook it up?

We charge $75 for a tune.

We would hook it up and try it.

If we know the ECU we can try and read it. Unless there is something special about it I would go with a new tune.
