What kind of used LPM's are we talking about... can you or "they" do the old circuit board style... I wanna say I have one of those layin around somewhere. The other I use now is a flashprom type.


Is there a way to save the old tune somehow? On say a flash drive?

The 73mm is supposed to act like a stock MAF so it would be treated as such. I can add it to the list.

Well... FWIW, I know when I pull my chip, my car has a heck of a time running right. Not that I couldn't swap out a 80mm tho. Just things that might come up. Thanks

Well there are two 73mm MAFs: the old and oft-hated C&L 73mm, and the Pro-M (nee Pro-Flow) 73mm. Pro-M doesn't exist any more, and C&Ls don't work any better now than they did five years ago.

Mine wasn't... some were... I had both sample tubes for a time, one was definately better than the other. Can't remember which.

So right now, you are running with the LPM, and what ECU do you have?
What are you modifications, and who tuned the LPM?

We know for a fact, that as far as the SHO Shop tunes and the MTX (and I'm 99% sure Ted B. as well), they only had the ability to use the stock 55mm, or 80mm Lincoln.
The LPMs for the ATX had the ability to custom program a MAF curve, but still, I don't think Vadim tuned for anything other than the 55, and 80 lincoln.

Side note: The "Stinkin" Lincoln 80mm is an excellent MAF, that can support over 300hp easy, as long as you have a LPM, or other chip solution that correctly maps it's curve.

ECU is the x2j. Y-pipe + catback + UDP's.

Ted is the one who tuned it.. back in 2000-2001 could have been a year earlier even..

I guess the only way to know is to see whats on the chip... but since its my only car.. it'll be a little while until I let go of it. I suppose I could swap on a 55mm and pull it, but it will change a ton of stuff.

Whatever is on that chip definately changes the note of the car.. first thing I remembered noticing, and others with SHO's have noticed it...

Back in the day, no one hated that 73... only after I joined this forum did I hear stories about them.

Whatever it is.. we will figure it out someday, because I wanna know what was on it, and I'm planning on a hairdryer here someday soon, so I'll be getting one of these tuned sooner or later at this price..

If its an LPM, yes.

If it was possible, it would be a difficult proposition at best. The LPM is a proprietary chip and software, not compatible with anything else. The tweecer program writes it's tunes in encrypted form. Also LPM can only write calibration information, while the tweecer writes program information on top of calibration, making one tune work on any ECU. For the LPM, because it can only write calibration, you need to tune for each different ECU. AFAIK, tweecer only tunes for X2J, and D4U1, so you would HAVE to have those ECUs to write a "calibration only" tune from Caledit.

Short answer: possible...maybe. Worth the effort? No. Better to just buy another tweecer, probably without RT to save money.

The LPM is a good solution if you can get a hold of it, for basic tuning options, where buying a tweecer and learning to use it wouldn't make sense.

Just wondering. I would bet even at 6-7 psi the 80mm is maxed out.
