Well since its warmer out again and I have the money its finally time to perform the full 60k to my toy/project car.
But what to do first? Upper or lower? A little background is probably in order.
Over the past 6 months that I have owned the car it has truly lived up to the love/hate relationship I have always heard about the SHO. At first it seemed I was replacing items and cleaning stuff out every night for a month or two. The car finally settled in and ran decent (and the CEL finally went off) despite needing more extensive maintance (60k).
Well, over the past week I've noticed that I really should finally do the 60k.
The oil in the plug-wells that I have always had turned from a nasty pest to a massive problem. I'm finally experiencing mis-fires and mileage went from an already low 14-15 mpg to about 11-12 mpg. More annoying is the plug wires popping off the plugs while driving because the oil has degraded the boots so much. And it seems that the oil fills the plug wells much much faster then before now.
Onto the other problem. I noticed a rather loud clacking sound from the belt area that is only audible at idle speeds. Fearing the dreaded crank cancer I probed each pulley and found nothing out of the ordinary with the stethoscope. It doesn't sound like the timing belt is slapping the cover either. I also pulled the timing cover to check for the red dust, a tell-tale sign of the cancer I'm told, but the belt and area were actually super clean. A first for this car.
But, if I probe the actual water pump housing I hear a constant screech (but no clacking) like shot bearings. I'm hoping this is it, and I really want to verify the keyway on the crank is good when I do the lower 60k. Also just to annoy me, I have a tear in the main assecory or uni-belt about a 1/8" in and about 2.5" long. Amazing this car has never leaked coolant and it doesn't appear to be doing it at this time either.
So what seems more urgent? I can't make up my mind and I really don't want to flip a coin to decide. I'm planning on doing one part of the 60k next weekend and the other part of it a few weeks later.
Thanks for Any Help/Guidance/Advice

. The frontside 60k is really easy, but someone I met on the forum graciously came over and adjusted my valve lash. I know how to do it now so next time I should be able to tackle it myself. Dont put yourself on a time restraint...thats the best advice I can give you having just been through the process myself. Good luck.
