Well I figured out my transmission problems with cutting the torque converter wire. I already have the mufflers I want and I will soon be removing the 3rd cat.

It is time for more intake sound. Is it better to try and remove the sound baffles on the stock intake(I have a K&N panel filter now) or should I try to fab up a cone intake? I noticed the stock air box has a wire and sensor going to it. I would guess that is a air intake temp sensor. Is it ok if I go to a cone to just leave it out of the system? Assuming the cone setup is the best bet, is there any DIY pages out there explaining what I might need for parts? I probably could figure it out but it is getting cold up here and my garage has no heater, so I want to do this as fast as I can.

Unless you mount the cone within the fender any cone intake under the hood will be a hot air intake.

I'd recommend checking out v8sho.com and doing the porterization mod. It'll give you the sound you want with very minimal cost and not be a hot air intake like a cone setup.

Well I had my car torn apart today in hopes of Porterizing the thing, but the lawys of physics and my lack of imagination had other plans. I could not get the right angle onto the stock air box. When I managed to get it close enough to get a hose clamp on it, the clamp would slide off. I ended up taking the round baffle that sits behind wheel well cover out. I have a louder than stock intake but it still uses the stock components, which is all that I wanted.

Do you have the factory tube into the air box?

What I had to do was clip the air box holders and pull the box towards the front of the car. Clamp it together tightly and good to go.

I tried every combo I could think of to get it to work, but no dice. I am happy with the sound. Under hard acceleration it sounds freakin awesome when the secondaries open.

When I did mine I had to disconnect the airbox from its mount, put the new intake onto it and through the wheel well, and then remount the box. Would have been very difficult to do without loosening up the airbox first. Also, just a rad clamp is likely not going to be enough to hold anything onto the intake to the airbox. Best to put in 2-3 small screws for a solid attachment.

Yes but you are pulling in hot air from the engine compartment.

Cool sound = less hp.

I had everything off from the throttle body to the front bumper. I might look at this mod again once I get the car running right again.

Look up "Troxel Intake Mod" on the V8 sho forum

Don't porterize it. Troxel it to get cold air intake. See V8 sho. Much cleaner look.

The first view is the cut off intake installed. It picks up cold air in the fender well. This view is with the splash guard removed.
