If you want, swing up to Cumberland, RI (rte 295 & 122 on the map), and I'll take a listen some night.

Screamin,

The last time I ran accross this problem the cars owner had accidentilly locked his wife in the trunk!

Seriously, look for bad bearings in the idler pulley, A/C pulley, or Alternator pulley. Next check the drive belts for proper tension, and check their surface for "glazing" (a shiny hard drive surface).

It is not uncommon for power steering pums to whistle, or hum, until it warms up.

Lastly, check in the trunk, just in case! rangerj

Yes, I saw the "MA", but I figured you might be interested in a possible free diagnosis anyway.

Good luck with your SHO.

Thanks guys, i forgot to mention that i changed my power steering fluid to the Lucas power steering fluid before it got cold out (prevent maint), and that shit was as thick as tar. I wonder if the pump is having a hard time pushing that garbage through?

I've had that same sound only on the coldest mornings, and lastest for a second or two at most. It's been doing it for winter #6 now, and I have had no ill effects from it, so I ignore it. FWIW, it seems to be a clutch/tranny related noise, as I can almost feel it through the clutch pedal. And Fred knows his shit, so if you want it checked out, he's the guy to go see. Had to through that in there Fred. :)
