In the process of fighting to get a water pump warrantied. I'm going to be contacting a lawyer next week and would like to get a list of owners who had to replace their water pump whether it was under warranty or not.
Looking to compile a list of SHO Owners who had a Water Pump Failure

You may want to expand to the same motor in other applications. I first read about this issue on an ecoboost forum. It would be the motor used with FWD architecture so probably flex, maybe edge, the lincoln sedans, I'm not as up to speed on all the crossover model variants but it is a potentially larger pool.
Let me know if you're successful. What do you think the statute of limitations is on water pumps? If I could get paid for those 2 dozen or so water pumps replacements I've completed in my life, that would be great. ****, I didn't know they were not supposed to wear out.

Well considering I had warranty when I brought my car in for a coolant problem and it wasn't fixed and then 4 days later the water pump is diagnosed as the cause and I'm now out of warranty, I think I have a valid complaint.
Well, that is a valid complaint and i would persue too. In my opinion that is a non performing dealer issue, not a manufacturers defect. I would be contacting the dealership management, then Ford, then the lawyer. I have to say that I have had a few manufacturer representatives say "I won't be able to communicate with you once you obtain a lawyer". I also can tell you a was compensated more after the lawyer contact than I wanted them to take of originally.

i havent had mine fail yet on my 2015. New engine now anyway. Are they chain driven on the inside or electric to keep running for the turbos to not heat soak? When my motor was out i think i seen the pipe coming out near where the tranny goes and up to the intake. Unless im mistaken.

My daughter has the water pump fail on her EB Flex. Somewhere around 100K miles, so not unusual. Did not leak into the oil, but still cost a couple grand to replace (along with timing chain/tensioner.)

I had one of the first water pump failures on an EB engine in my Flex. There is a law firm already working on a class action suit:

Just to be fair...I dig what you're saying, it's not about forever parts (although apparently Ford believes in forever lubricants) but there is a difference in failing and not circulating coolant through the water jacket and failing and dumping coolant into the crankcase. This issue has been prevalent in Chrysler motors that used the same waterpump setup in their 2.7L motors way before Ford adopted using it in the ecoboost. And guess what other production maker car boards were saying back in '09? That it is a really bad idea and saw it coming.
Other than that I have no opinions on the matter
Ford has also never issued a TSB for the transverse platform for the timing system like they have for the F150/longitudinal platform. But timing slack still develops, rattles do happen. May not be as frequent, but certainly not rare. I hear about the Flex as frequently as I do the SHO. Dunno about the Explorer, I think those guys are mainly on the Explorer forums.
