Don't take my advice.
The wheel wells on these cars are pretty big. You'd need some oddball size that wont really work to fill them.

Then could you guys refer me to a thread or some site that has an easier way to get the strut assembly out of the car? When I replaced my rear struts a couple months ago it was an absolute nightmare to get them out of the wells... I really don't want to go back in there for obvious reasons...

PM Sent. There are a few tricks.
If Mustang wheels fit the old SHO you'd see a lot more with nicer looking wheels. SHO is 108mm x 5 and the older Mustangs are, I believe, 114.5mm x 5. It's enough to constitute an adapter.

Yes the Thunderbird's have the same 108x5 (4.25x5) pattern. SC's and 96+ sport LX have 16", all others are 15". Some brakes require 16"+ to fit over.

You can fit 15s on a gen 3? Ive wanted to put the gen 1 basket weves on my 98.

they will fit the rear with stock brakes (maybe even larger rear brakes)
they will not fit over the front 11.5" stock brakes. (with huge spacers maybe)
if you really, REALLY want the basket weaves, downgrade the front brakes to 11.0" then the weaves will fit. That's not exactly what I would recommend, but if you're after a specific look it's easily doable with bolt-on parts.

I think they have a really high offset, like +55. Probably will hit the strut without spacers...and no tires.

I have gen 1 1991 I need to know how big of a 16 tire I can get on rf with out hittinh strut its on a racecar
With a 16x8 wheel and 40 mm offset a 245-50-16 Nitto NT-01 just barely fit (would tag the strut under sudden direction change) would recommend a little more offset. I would not put that wide of a tire on a 7 inch or even 7.5 inch wide wheel for what you are doing. Need to run low mileage or NOS OEM wheel bearing in that position.
On a 91 the space is much more limited on the rear, 225 may be max. Also 40 mm offset is too tight I had to run eigth inch wheel spacers to clear the strut, that was with 245-45-16s.

Just remember more spacers and offset will increase your scrub radius which ruins handling. Same with lower profile tires or less overall tire height.
It is hard to imagine these cars with an even worse turning radius.
