3.0L that I spun the rod bearing on got turned into a 3.2L.

Used 3.2 pistons and rods, with Total Seal piston rings.
Block bored out to 3.622 by Westside Performance
Crank turned by Flanakin Crankshaft Specialties. Turned down .10mm.
Pistons machined by (Dad) RW Machining and the shop we are not going to name since they delayed us for weeks.
Rockauto for some of the gaskets and the rest made by hand.
Ported and Polished the intake.

Rebuilt the Cam chain tensioners with Glass-Filled Delrin.
Thanks again Dad on the machining on those.

Now for what everone wants to see, the build. Sorry that I did start taking pics until after the short block was done.

I hope my brother is happy when I give him the car after we are done putting in the car next week. I know I am crazy. Built the 3.2L and turn around and give the car to my brother for his 16th. I hope he doesn't **** himself. I have made him do alot of the work and cleaning on the parts. He did strip one of the threads for the valve covers. Fixed and his lesson was learned on how little torque those threads can take.

Also rebuilt the trans and re-enforced the diff with solid roll pins (i.e. allen head bolts with threads cut off and then threaded the diff and used set screws to hold them in place. Then overkill by having a strap welded over the pinion gear pins.

More pictures to come as we drop it in next week.

Did you take pictures of the differential-pin mod? If so, please post the images for the benefit of others !!! :thumb:

No pics sorry.

However,
Step 1. Remove ring gear. Drill press helps.
2. Get bolts. 3x #6 allen bolt with 1.75 of shaft that doesn't have thread. Dia. of shaft should be 5mm. Cut off thread. 3x 10mm set screw. 10x bolts to put the ring gear back on, don't know the size.
3. Tap the ring gear side of the diff for the 10mm set screws.
4. Drill out the cone shaped side of the diff so that the head of the allen bolt will fit into it. Only drill deep enough for the bolt heads to sit flush. You can skip step 3 and use the ring gear side of the diff to hold the allen bolts in place. Only thing with that is you can't replace them with out pulling the diff back apart.
5. Since I couldn't bolts short enough for the ring gear you will have to cut them to the length needed so they are flush with the nut when bolted back together. Weight them to make sure they are all the same so we don't have any balance issues.
6. Bolt diff back together.
7. Drop in allen bolts.
8. Screw in set screws, w/locktight so the allen bolts don't come out.
9. !!!!!!Ultra protection!!!!!!! have machine shop make a band that will go over the pinion gear pins. Weld in place or design with tab that allows it to be bolted on when bolting the ring gear on. This last step I think was overkill as I had exploded two diffs about a month apart. If you go with the band set up you don't need to upgrade the roll pins.

Extra protection can't hurt. Right.

Out of curiosity why didn't you paint the freeze plugs? I would consider running some AutoRX through that motor to clean up those heads......

Good work though. I completely rebuilt my 3.2 last summer and remember how much fun it it was putting everything together and taking the pictures...
