so a while back my engine overheated really bad and died on the interstate... so i towed it home, tinkered with it, lots of new parts.. cam/crank sensors, battery, alternator, battery cables other unrelated parts.. anyways, at first it used to try to turn over but sound really sluggish, like it wanted to but couldnt get enough power. Now it just is stuck cold and can't turn over at all. It has gas, power.

a guy told me to put "caster" oil in it ?? i'm not even sure what that is.

Otherwise i'm looking for a new engine to buy if anybody is selling one hit me up.

Thanks

Joe

have you pulled the spark plugs? Maybe the headgaskets blew and you have coolant in the cylinders? Try pulling the all the plugs and then turn it over.

Pull the plugs and do a leak down test. That will tell you the condition of the engine.

what is a "leak down test" ??

I pulled the plugs and there is water on them so my hopes just got alot better that its not a fried engine..

if the engine is stuck this will free it use marvel mystery oil in all cylinder let it sit a couple days. work the crank or turn over the motor slowly keep on putting it in the cylinders and working it it will free up.

If your engine won't turn over a leak down test is a waste of time. A locked up engine probably means your bearings are melted onto the crankshaft.

well i pulled the valve covers tonight and got the head bolts undone, one i noticed had some type of residue on it that looked like Ash. I didn't get the heads off yet, my first time doing it so i'm still undoing all the bolts and trying to get it all undone.

I do have new gaskets and head bolts when I get it all off and figure out the full extent of the problem.

This would go faster but I can only do a little bit each night after work haha.

Thanks for ideas so far.. anymore are appreciated.

if you read my entire posts you would have saw that I already purchased NEW head gaskets that i'm going to install. I also went and got the Marvel Mystery oil friday.

I've been busy but tonight i'm going to take more stuff off so i can hope to get down to the heads themselves and start putting oil in there (the mystery stuff ).
