E30 really isn't safe for stock fueling, I'm actually surprised that more tuners don't recommend upgrades. I know gearhead does recommend it.
Also LMS isn't too far off with the lambda comment.

I still believe they want to make customers happy, which is why they keep revising their tune.

Now if you want to really crank up the heat, let's bring up S. S. I. Which hold a ton of records and more controversy than I've ever seen on any automotive forum. I'd like to know what they think is safe for the stock pump. Hahaha

Sierra Sierra India is the best. No questions. Their tuning philosophy....

All the fuel, all the boost, and all the timing! You can't have knock if you don't enable the knock sensors! FULL SEND BABY!

As long as you set the record quickly!
I've always wondered if they tune for pure racecar and no driveability.

It's easy to forget how crappy gas station fuel can be sometimes and if you are tuned close to the limits..... Well.

Also I wonder how many people don't even monitor knock and lambda

You are 100% correct. I only have 91 here in Phoenix. That is the main reason I run E30. It makes great power, I get zero knock, and I watch it like a hawk. I would switch to 93 in a heart beat if I could.

Well... if you are tuned by LMS you can’t with their hand held... and I don’t see a lot of LMS tuned customers with aftermarket gauges...

Also based on how many SCT tuned customer I see asking how to datalog and setup gauges... I would see not a lot...

Exactly. Even SCT isn't as good anymore. I switched to Hptuners because SCT can't tune 10speeds very well. The Datalogging is light-years ahead. Also the ngage fits in your Vent lol

Yes yes... GH does most of their fine tuning with HPT... Matt problem is you can pull the tune off the car with HPT... leaving his IP exposed....

I offered to buy an HPT device if it made it easier...lol

This interesting to read, as I'm in the process of getting tuned. Have 93 readily available and was planning on tuning with E30. Mind if I shoot you a pm and pick your brain on this ?

Yes this is true. I actually used HPT to see the difference between tuners and figure out how things worked. Matt tweaks more things by far than anyone else. Very impressive and worth every cent.

My 91 LMS tune is faster than the 93 tune and shifts smoother. I've had it for so long that I've forgotten about it. I am interested in the GH auto-octane tune and will probably give that a shot once I get back to work. The catch can nonsense is what really soured me on LMS. Well, that and bpd's motor experience :)

Like I said, no worries. I would love to sit and have a couple cold ones. I agree we are both here for the platform, and I know we are not far apart on this at all.

If LMS in my book worked hard and stayed transparent on what was happening this all could have been avoided with V11. They could have sent out the email and got on top of it telling the owners to revert back to V10. They didn't, they proved up V11 even when things were going south.

I lost all respect for them when they literally ghosted our community. Literally nothing on this website for a better part of year. However they would post over on the Ecoboost forum about all their new platform tunes. Mustang and Ranger tunes right off the top of my head. Myself and other members called them out over there as well...crickets from LMS about the SHO. That is my problem.
You two guys literally saved my beloved SHO with good advice. I got to pick and choose text from dilligent, engineering-level data gathering, along with practical sharing, from both of you. Where I worked, (the plant that built all of our SHO engines) I was the casting expert which doesn't make me an authority on any tuning issues. I don't drink, but if we ever all get together, I'M BUYING THE FIRST ROUND!!!

Wow, just now getting around to reading this entire thread. I haven't really been routinely active on any forums for a few years until I decided to ease my way onto these SHO boards (explorer boards are virtually dead, at least for my Gen). Thank you for the warm welcome BTW.

Anyway, makes me glad I dumped LMS way back on or about version 6. I drank the kool-aid early on and I still have a few parts on the truck that carry their name that I soooo wish I could get rid of, simply because it carries their label.

They lost me when I called them a few years ago to nail down some questions on methanol and I could tell they had no idea what I was talking about. My questions went completely over their head. If there's one thing I'm fairly knowledgeable about, it's water injection and I hate being talked down to condescendingly, especially when I can tell the messenger has no clue what they are talking about. Alotta "ummm"s, "well"s, "hmmmmm"s, and "yeah, we don't do that"s Didn't exactly inspire confidence. I promptly hung up and switched to SCT immediately. Never made a better decision in my automotive life.

I've never shared that with anyone online and I won't bring it up again as I'm not into bashing businesses digitally. I just let my dollars do the talking.

I'll pass on anything with the LMS label on it (mostly because it's usually just rebranded stuff from other companies)...just thought I'd share.

Thank you, I'm out....

Posts and private messages like these are why I am so vocal about issues like this. The information is out there, however people literally have no idea about it, or how to even access that. LMS has great marketing, however the idea of LMS and what you actually receive are two different things. This seems to be a common and re-occurring theme.

I always try to give the best advice I can give. Most is backed with research and data from personal trial or from notable members and tuners. If I don't have an answer or solid advice I will always defer to others that probably will.

Now... The real test is LMS going to say anything in response to this post or sweep it under the rug in typical fashion.

Honestly, I just hope V17 fixes V11 issues. We won't know until we see the data. If it does that is a step in the right direction. They should make sure they have fixed the issue 100% and I would cut my loses with the SHO community. We are a very small piece of the EB world, and continue to be the bastard children. There is a lot of discourse here for good reason. LMS have their hands in numerous other platforms and hopefully those tunes are sound. Hopefully they can provide those owners with a good product.

Ha! And if they do respond who is going to believe it? Unless they provide factual data points that are easily verifiable, then anything they say will be taken with a dose of skepticism.
