...man I love these guys.

On my way back out the door, so I'll make this quick.

Was able to make a call today and spoke with Ethan to get everything squared away. Asked about the HPFP, meth, tunes, etc...and other random things.

Great guy, got me all set up and ready to go fairly quickly and answered all my questions and concerns.

Big thank you to the folk at Livernois.

So I have to ask this question because I think I know, but I don't really know. What is HPFP, what does it do, what does it have to do with meth, and why is everyone so happy its coming. Feel free to answer in condescending tones and snide remarks it wont be the first time and wont really bother me anyway.

High Performance Fuel Pump

Not really needed unless you are intending on using e85 for example, have upgraded turbos, or are currently using methanol.

There wasn't really a comparison of the two, if that's what you were asking Steal...

I opted to not head down that path as they can't offer mail order tunes for HPFP. Seeing that they are a decent jump away for me, I don't feel it's necessary for me head that direction.

I will however be adding methanol at some point and MAYBE look at it differently.

The HPFP is basically the last stone for the wall I guess. If you have mods like bpd, then it's right up your alley.

What do you mean by that? I was under the impression that they were going to offer a tune file for the HPFP?

They have posted that they will provide an updated tune to take advantage of the HPFP... maybe I incorrectly assumed that they would provide that remotely??

All I can say is that when I called asking about their alky kit and the HPFP they told me that the meth was to offset the fueling issues and that with the HPFP, meth was no longer needed for fueling.....

And right now, they only have one tune for meth and it requires 100% meth....

I realized that came across a bit confrontational and I didn't mean it too. I apologize for that. I meant it as purely an inquiry.

Well you are StealBlueSho which for some reason reminds me of Real Steel, which is a fighting robot, then there is Blue Steel both the Movie and the signature Male Model look, So I expect you to be highly confrontational.
AND For what its worth I got the exact same impression from reading everyone's post even though I had no idea what they where talking about.

stuff and I made a mistake

That's essentially what I meant, but thank you for correcting me.

The HPFP will allow people to run e20/e85/etc... higher octane gives more options while tuning.

I don't want to speak out of place, but I really don't believe it would make an alky/meth system obsolete as they serve a different function at the same time. Cooler air and a slight punch in octane.

Gotcha... you are correct in that meth can be used for a cooler charge and an uptick in octane.

At this moment LMS uses their Alky Meth kit as a crutch for the lack of fuel available on a stock fuel system.

With the new HPFP I would think LMS would develop a tune utilizing their existing Alky Kit for just cooling the charge and increasing octane.

But time will tell.... I just hope that the new HPFP is tuneable for other vendors...

Gimpy, did Ethan give you any prices, last heard it was close to $1500 for just the upgraded HPFP and $2500 for the Extreme Duty pump. So for bang for you buck, meth still is best, but its not for everyone. I think for the first couple months after release they are going to need customers cars to get some baseline tune files, then I'm sure it will be emailed files after that.

As for other tunes being able to tune for the new pumps, yeah I think they will be able too, but think it will require lots of data logging for some just to get the car to idle, and go from there. Some will have to be the ones to take that on.

Apologies, just went to look at the F150 HPFP, $1800 for the bigger pump. So I hope its close to that price. Maybe I heard or read installed price.

No, it's $1,800 for the tuner/HPFP bundle. I believe your first statement of $2,500 for the biggest pump is correct.

The HPFP will cover what the Alky kit was doing, and actually let the meth make power instead of supplement fuel.
Standard pump is for pump gas. Severe pump is for E85. There will be tune files for the standard pump upon release
but as of right now the E85 will have to be in house. I do not see this being the case for long, just until a few have been
done and tables have been set.

Well, shit...

Did I jump the gun too soon on this?

There will be a tuner/HPFP bundle available along with tunes after the initial tuning parameters have been set?
