What's going on with your navigation unit?

Mine was going out (more often when i had my heater turned on). They replaced some part (not the unit itself) and it still goes out every now and then.

I'm curious if you have the same issue.

Sorry Spaz, missed your post. It's happened a couple times really. I attempt to enter in a destination, steet name for instance, and it just locks up. Radio still plays, but no navi controls work on screen. I went about 10 miles and still nothing.
It took me two times to shut the car off completely at a stop light for it to reset itself and then it was fine. Happened while in my drive way about 3 weeks ago and once up in DC this past weekend. The time in DC though I drove a little ways and it fixed itself.

Just wondering if anyone knows, Can the SHO be programmed with the Xcal2? I have one I bought from Rick several years ago for my 2003 Cobra. So it would be nice if I could use it on the newer car.

Thanks!

Well, the word Microsoft is distinctly on my console just in front of the arm rest. That could explain the need to "reboot" several times. Maybe if you just closed your Windows and opened them again..... <g>

FWIW, when I plugged the Xcal3 for my GT500 in to the SHO it didn't seem to recognize it.

LMSRick will know if an older tuner can be used to program a recent, and different car -- For sure the programs will be different of course but whether the new programs can be loaded onto your 'Xcal2', he'll tell you.

Also I believe each tuner has a specific program for a specific car and cannot be used on any other ride.

Unfortunately, It cannot.

Depending on how old the X3 is, it may not work.

Did you return your GT500 to "Stock Tune" before attempting to use on SHO?

If you don't do that, don't believe it will recognize any other vehicle, even another 09' GT 500.

Remember, the SCT tuner becomes "married-locked" to the vehicle you are currently tuning. To use it on another vehicle, you have to un-lock it by going back to stock.

And... you can only switch back and forth a total of 5 times. After that the SCT Tuner freezes and can only be unlocked by SCT in FLA... at a considerable cost to you.

This feature allows you to use your old tuner on your next compatible vehicle, but NOT 2 or more of your current vehicles.

Lastly, it is important to occasionally update all the SCT Firmware and Software for your tuner and LiveLink. Mine got corrupted somehow early this week and wouldn't log properly (my new XC3 GM 3400 Tuner). Returning vehicle to stock and updating everything solved my problems.

FINALLY got the system to let me register (kept "banning" the email addies I tried). Just took delivery of a 2012 SHO w/PP and MAN do I love this car.....

Two questions
1) Willl the Livernois tunes work with my '12 or do I need to wait for new versions?
2) Does a CAI make a significant differance in performance?

Thanks all

Welcome to the forum!

To answer your questions...

1) Livernois should be able to tune your 12, as far as I know there weren't any real PCM changes

2) Havent really seen any "real world" differences with a CAI...but they do allow you to hear the turbos

Congrats on the SHO and welcome Mark.
If you love the SHO without the tune you'll be amazed with it after a Livernois tune. I had the stage 2 for about a week and went to the Stage 4 for a few months now have the 4+ and love it.

LMSRick will know for sure if the '12 will be ok with the '10 & '11 tune -- like Darrell says - it probably will be the same.

Enjoy -- and post up your opinion of the car, and its tune when you install, and don't forget pics. Black is a very popular colour.

Welcome Mark, glad you like your car. I'm betting if you call Rick at Livernois he will be glad to update you about the tunes and your car. Second question, about the CAI, I have not seen any difference in performance with any CAI I have ever had on any vehicle, but I did see a slight increase in MPG. We all love the Airaid because of all the support they have provided to those of us who purchased their CAI and it really, really improves the under hood looks of the Ecoboost. If you get the CAI be sure to get a pre-filter, as it helps keep big pieces of dirty away from the filter and helps keep the filter much cleaner. Good luck with the new car.

Welcome to the forum Mark!

Our tune will indeed work for your 2012 SHO.

All of our tunes have been developed in-house on our AWD chassis
dyno using our Taurus SHO and Flex EcoBoost shop vehicles.

To my knowledge, we’ve tuned more EcoBoost vehicles than anyone in
the country and have had zero failures.

The tuner is sent blank. Once you receive the tuner, you will
email me your strategy code, serial number from your SCT device,
mods (if any) and what octane fuel you run.

Below is a video of some EcoBoost vehicles tuned by us.

As others said, the CAI is good for minimal power, but every little bit helps and they make the turbos more audible.

Thank you,

Rick

Just installed my stage 2 tune a few days ago. I didn't really notice anything just crusing around but that was until I floored it. Holy crap...definitely faster now. A launch in this car is now insane compared to before. I get some torque steer but it's now in the area of giving you a good rush on launches. Before was decent but nothing crazy.

Overall very happy with my stage 2. I think I might move to stage 4 but I can't find any 93 octane around here. :(
