I know it seems to be a dumb question, but since my wife drives it 98% of the time, what does a stage 3 tune do to the MPG? Increase/decrease/same?

Now I only have a stage 2 tune, and I've only driven about 80 miles, but my first impressions are that the tune have actually improved my mileage, since it is something that I keep an eye on. I would expect the same thing from a Stage 3, since the way I understand the only difference in the 2 and the 3 is that the 2 has reduced torque management and the 3 doesn't. I believe the engine mods are the same.

Still only getting 18mpg here (driving easy too) on stage 3 93oct. Not much of a factor now because it kicks butt! Maybe this summer when gas hits $7 gal

I actually get a little better gas mileage. Maybe 1-2 mpg

Interesting, I'm still getting exactly the same MPG I was pre-tune just shy of 20mpg right at about 19.7 I think. It pretty much just stays there. When I'm really thumping on it it goes to 19.3 still never less then 19. I love it!

Man, either my Flex is really that much worse MPG wise or I am way more throttle happy than I should be on Stage 3, averaging about 13.9mpg around town.

I get around 17 in town, but in Naples most of the main roads are 45 mph, which means 52mph! If we didn't have 2 minute waits at stop lights, my mileage would be even better! Not sure if rear spoiler helps but it does on most sport wagons, like Volvo's.

Flex is much more aero than people give it credit for... about 33....
But it has a pretty big front footprint. Rear belt line of my G8's are higher than my lowered Flex, but front end has my Flex nearly 6 " higher at front fender edge. And... greenhouse is much taller.

So this tune guys is not an SCT tune? I take it Livernois has their own chip, programmer, etc? These power increases are awesome!

I have to ask you now, exactly how much hp are you guy's getting on the dyno, at the wheels, and what is it at the crank? Mustang or Dynojet? And you are running the stage 4, correct? Any info on the stage 3? I'm considering the stage 3.

Sorry...this thread got ahead of me! I missed this post somehow.

Dyno numbers...that was a while ago. On the Stage 3 tune, I made I believe a little over 380hp to the wheels. Thats on Livernois AWD dyno. I believe it's a load-bearing Dynojet. I know their other dyno is a Mustang, but I believe this one is a Dynojet but is load bearing. Rick I'm sure will chime in on this.

Never really had the Stage 4 on the dyno, maybe on Dans car but not mine.

I, like Mike (BPD) have some stuff I'd like to get done by spring and will probably have it back on the dyno then. Dan said at the end of the season he was gonna work on some stuff over the winter as well, but he sounds like hes been kinda busy thus far.

As far as crank hp, I'm not sure really what the losses thru the drivetrain are on this vehicle. I could go back and figure out what the baseline numbers have been and take that from Fords 365hp claim but I dont know how accurate that would be.

The Stage 3 tune is a great daily driver tune that should leave you with no worries running premium fuel. It really wakes the car up, the driveability and shifting I believe is better than stock and makes the car fun to drive.

They dont have their own chip or programmer, but they do have their own programming software. Thats why they flash it there and you would have to return it to them to flash it back to stock.

They put their mail order tunes on an SCT X3 and they also use SCT's software.

Rick would probably answer this better.

Yes, the power increases have been great just from programming!!

The SCT tuner used for custom tunes (NOT SCT's own tunes) is the X3-3000. If you update your firmware or software, be sure you download the correct ones for the SCT X3-3000. There are several other model numbers for the X3 and their firmware and software will not work on the 3000 that is used with custom tunes for our vehicles.

With the years of dyno history on the Gen 1-2 cars, we have pretty much come up with an 18% loss on the MTX, and 22% on the ATX. Even very conservatively figuring a 20% loss on the Eco, 380 whp is ~475 CHP. using this basic calc:

WHP = CHP X .80, then

WHP / .80 = CHP

Amen, Darreli...I thought the guys were overstating the difference....they were NOT. I am simply amazed at how much better this car is over the entire range (from start to top end) at the increase with the Livernois tune.

Just to add some clarity to this. If Livernois sends you an SCT device to flash your SHO (a mail order tune), you can return your car to stock at any time. The SCT device backs up the stock tune and saves it so you can flash it back at any time.

I installed my Airaid kit and the Stage 3 tune this morning. I took it for a short drive and could only get into it a bit because of the crazy traffic in Orlando, but I can say leaving a light is awesome. I will give a full review of everything once I get to take it for a serious drive, but I think its gonna match everyone here's opinion....WOW.

Ok Im just about to pull the trigger.
Tell me how this works.
I buy the tuner and stage 3. Do I also get stage 1&2 or is there a seperate charge for those tunes?
If I update my PCM (Ford TSB etc..) do I need to get another tune and would there be a charge for this?

You buy the tuner, theyll ship it to you, you email them back a few things and they'll email you the tunes. You get all the tunes for the same price.

As far as the dealer flashing your PCM, if they do that it will over write the "tune". If you take it to the dealer I'd either flash it back to stock, which you can do thru the tuner, or make sure the dealer doesn't flash your PCM. If you flash it back to stock to go to the dealer, when you can home just reload the tune.
