I made the decision to do the tune after talking with the service manager and mechanic that does most of the work at the Ford dealer I use for most of my more involved work. I was reassured by them that the tune won't be a warranty issue. Now I have known them for several years and my relationship with them as a deciding factor on doing the tune. However, after driving with the tune, I don't anticipate any problems, I don't think the changes are that radical and I am not a very aggressive driver, so I can't really see it becoming an issue. However, I will reinstall the stock tune before taking the SHO to the dealer for any service. But I am not regretting getting the tune at all. It really is "way cool"!

Just one little side note, after having a Superchip "chip" and then a programmer tune in my former vehicles, I felt pretty comfortable with a new tune even one that didn't come from SCT. Livenois has a great rep, and I also I had never had any problems with the other tunes I used, so I felt OK about the SHO tune. BTW, only problem I ever encountered was when the dealer reflashed my computer with a Superchips "chip" installed...the reflash fried the chip and I was stuck running the truck with a stock tuner until I got a programmer tune. Dealer apologized for killing the chip, but they didn't know I had it installed before they reflashed the computer for a Ford update.

Thanks everyone, it's all true Livernois Motorsports tune has improved this car, and if you are on the fence about getting one, don't be. Well worth the money, and the customer support was outstanding. This gets 2 thumbs up!

Thanks for the kind words Mark! I'm glad you are happy with the tune.

Sounds like you have a rapor with your service peeps and that's a big plus.
Thanks for the insight.

Unfortunately in the great state of Maine there is only 91 octane available. Can any of these tunes be run on 91 octane?

I know it seems to be a dumb question, but since my wife drives it 98% of the time, what does a stage 3 tune do to the MPG? Increase/decrease/same?

I came out of a gas guzzling truck, no matter what mpg I get, it's better!

I can understand that, it's just that I don't want to get a tune that craters the MPG while my wife drives it most of the time. I got to work on her though, it's not going to be easy to convince her she needs 450hp, it's alot easier to say I'm doing it to increase the MPG, lol:evilgrin:

I have found when buying for the mustang it's better to tell her it's a safety issue, you know what I mean?

450HP easily..... I know Darrell's surpassing that, and I believe I am as well.... ask TaurusBuilder the spank'n he got when the two of us ran eachother a couple of weeks back..... D'oH! (sorry Greg for the unpleasant reminder).

As far as the MPG, I'm generally obtaining 17MPG around town, but then again, I drive a tad bit on the aggressive side (kind of an occupational hazard)..... but I'm aware of others, besides Darrell, that have seen a slight increase in their MPG as well.

I hear ya about the entire try'n convince the wife about drop'n money into a brand new car, you're not the only one in that boat 79turbo, so to that end, Good Luck!

450! Ugh! I'm coming for y'all. Please lord, give me the strength not to use this credit card. I've spent 1500 2day already.

I feel your pain, just bought a new forged 2.3 crank from Esslinger:dribble: for the stang, man I need it though;) Between these damn cars and listening to Glenn Beck telling me I need gold, food and clothes I'm going to be in the poor house.

Exactly how much hp are you guy's getting on the dyno, at the wheels, and what is it at the crank? Mustang or Dynojet?

I actually get a little better gas mileage. Maybe 1-2 mpg

Darreli

I have to ask you now, exactly how much hp are you guy's getting on the dyno, at the wheels, and what is it at the crank? Mustang or Dynojet? And you are running the stage 4, correct? Any info on the stage 3? I'm considering the stage 3.
