Attention those of you who are running a Livernois tune on your SHO or EB Flex, would you mind sending me a PM? I'd like to seek some information from you as well as your "reference" for Livernois.

I have been following several threads lately, but I'd like to communicate with some of you directly. Thanks in advance! Ben

I currently do not own a SHO, but am waiting for the 2012 models next year. Being that this will be my first real performance car I am new to the whole modifications and warranty issues. With that being said, excuse my ignorance please, will a "tune" effect the factory warranty? I am assuming that it will since it adjusts factory settings with the engine and related systems. The money seems fairly reasonable for ability to get more performance out of the vehicle and I am very interested in doing it when it comes time. Thanks

If the tune is the cause of the problem you may have warranty issues. Read around here a little, it's talked about in several threads. When you get it go with a reputable tuner and it really shouldn't be an issue

If you have a tune, and your windows make a strange noise going up and down, then the window will absolutely be warrantied. If you have a tune and you break an axle... then you are S.O.L. It is up to the manufacturer of the car to prove the tune (or any aftermarket component) caused the problem in order for them to legally deny a claim. It sounds safe enough... but this is actually a lot easier than it seems. They can get out of fixing a dashboard rattle if your car has been modified!

This is what people dont understand. According to the law its up to the dealer to prove your mod broke the part. According to reality its up to you to prove your mod did not break the part.

Is the added performance worth the risk then?

For me the answer was yes
I had my car for 11 months and put 12K miles on.
I wanted more performance and I am willing to take the risk.
Ive been back to the dealer for service, peeling chrome tail lights and the BLIS system and I re-flash to stock.....

Sorry, I guess what I mean is how does it improve the performance, ie horsepower, torque, 0-60 times....

Search around on here...you'll get the info you're looking for. I'm up over 100 hp over stock at some points and I've ran 12.78 at 110. Not sure exactly in my 0-60 but my 60fts are consistently 1.80

As its been said, a tune will definitely increase your SHO's power, but the warranty concern always comes up. Personally, I don't think Ford should have to cover "issues" caused by the adding more power / torque, but it amazes me how many people expect them to. I do have an issue with Ford automatically voiding a warranty without cause. They see a cold air kit and tell the customer their warranty is void. Instances like this were why the Magnuson Moss act was created, not to get you a new motor / trans when your inexperienced tuner blows it up.
Find a reputable tuner (Livernois / Unleashed) that has experience tuning these vehicles and you will not likely ever have a problem. Usually problems happen when guys order a generic tune or a tune / tuner from a company that has no experience tuning this model.
If your concerned about warranty, leave it stock until the warranty expires. If you want to "play", that is the risk you take in my opinion.

I assumed this but I have to ask, so what tuner are you using? With the old Supertuner I could store the stock settings in the tuner and then reflash the truck before it went in for any service...does it work the same way now with the Livernois tune and tuner? Can you tune and detune as needed for service?

With an SCT tuner, yes. The SCT (I think SCT is the only tuning company that supports the 2010+ SHO) device saves your factory stock tune so you can return it to the stock program at any time, just like you did with your truck. Livernois and Unleashed both use SCT devices.

Just remember (per other posts) they can tell how many times you changed the settings though they wont be able to tell what those settings were.

Does anyone know how much info the computer stores? Because I know it doesnt have infinite memory, eventually it will have to overwrite itself. So how much info (hours or such) does it store? If we reflash and then drive for an hour will the evidence of the tune be gone?
