I recently bought a "lot" of sho parts and this was among the pile. I was told it is for a sho and ws told it was "just like a jose 2". I am a nood, so honestly, what I've looked up and read is there was only a few aftermarket shifters avail for our cars. So, is this a true blue aftermarket shifter, a (do you think) workable frankenstein jammie, or a paper weight? I'm just gonna guess that even if its good, its missing stuff...lets me know fellas... Thansk for any info you guys have!View attachment 1237

It is indeed a jose shifter, but it seems to be missing the aluminum spacer block that mounts between the floor and shifter.
If you do a search for SHOrty shifter you should be able to find one of jose's threads

i dont think its a sho shifter, or any front wheel drive vehicle. looks like it is for a trans where the shifter goes in the top of it. front wheel drives (including sho's) use cables from the shifter to the trans. this one looks like the end of it has had an oil bath for a while

not in a 91? and up sho, certainly not in 92 as your username suggests you drive. The shifters are a rod connecting from the ball end of the shifter in that pic to the input of the transmission. Lots of front wheel drive cars use rod shifters.

If you PM Jose(rktmn) you could prolly just purchase the missing parts and be good to go. Its not the best shifter that he makes, but definitly better than the stock one.

WRONG. Have you even taken a look at your own car? If you take a look at your own SHO, You'll notice there is a black box underneath the car (That the exhaust has to bend around, none the less). This shifter box is where the shifter handle/ball goes down in to. Coming out of that box, are the shifter rods (Not cables) that connect to the transmission. However, 89-91 SHO's (Except for 91+ SHO's and a few lucky normal 91's) utilized a cable setup.

It looks like a stock 91 and up rod shifter that has been cut and shortened.

okay then... so it seems to be a jose shorty (one of his not-so-good ones), but one of his none the less... thats the general consensus here? lol. in the pics you can see that theres residue of high temp grease on the ball side, not oil. and above the ball it HAS been cut/welded/grinded. and the top half has the collar thingy. so, if i find the parts, somewhere/somehow, this is a ubgrade to my stocker?
