Well, I do believe I put the jack stands under the control arms just by chance, so good news for me. I guess if they don't bleed right I can always put the tires on and then bleed it, no big deal.

Hopefully I did everything right! Guess we'll find out tonight when my buddy comes over to help bleed the brakes.

Press pedal and hold it.
Open bleeder
Close bleeder
Release pedal
Repeat.

When you get 3 cycles of clean fluid with no bubbles, yer done. Refill the MC and do the next one.

Well, it now appears that there is a pretty sizable leak coming from the little box that hold the hard lines for the brakes, so I guess I'm screwed. So much for doing it yourself!

Flaring brakeline isn't fun, but doable. The first time I did it I had no idea what I was doing.
You would also have to bleed the whole system though because all the fluid probably leaked out.
If your mechanic doesn't have a tool to properly bleed the abs system your brakes will be dangerous. I drove around for a while like this when I was younger and dumber and it is dangerous.
