Is there a common problem with leaks in the trunk? I am getting a puddle of water when it rains on the drivers side of the well in the trunk. I seems like it is coming from where the tail light is but im not completely sure. I removed some of the carpeting but couldnt find where it was coming in.

probably the weather gasket. It's common to all Taurii and is very cheap and easily replaceable. You just rip the old one off and stick the new one on... just make sure the gap sits at the front (closest to you) middle lip of the trunk. And try not to let there be a gap! lol JC Whitney makes them.

weather stripping can often look solid and not degenerated, but it flattens over time and will no longer seal.

You can also seal the area around the tailight with regular old bathroom caulking. Had the same problem several years ago, sealed it that way, no leaks since.

We don't get the same extended cold weather in Texas that you will get in New York, so you might want to use outdoor caulking just to be safe.

Inside or outside? Do you seal any place special or just every place you see? Mine is leaking into the spare tire well and on the right side well.

This doesn't apply to Tauri specifically, but I would pull up the carpet and check the seams on your wheel wells. I've chased trunk leaks like this on alot of cars, and probably half or more ended up being unseen rust in the wheelwell seams.

Thanks, thats the first thing I did, the wheel wells seem fine. I will see when the new weatherstip arrives if it continues.

Also check the manual fuel door release cable, ect. That is where my 93 leaked from.

I sealed mine on the inside, and the leak was on the passenger side.

You could also get someone small that trusts you to climb into the trunk with a flashlight, close the trunk, and hose it down until they see where the leak is coming from. Just be sure they aren't claustrophobic.

Sealing the tail light housings did it for me. Which is great, since I live in a rainy part of the world.
