(2013 intercepter sedan) I have a persistent leak in the trunk when it rains hard. I see the 'weatherstripping' that attaches to the bottom of the rear windshield is deterioated/warped and detached. Gunk and dirt has built up on the windshield where it fits on.

My question: Is this repairable as a DIY job? If so, what cleaning agents to use on the windshield and the plastic weatherstriping (Iso-alcohol?). And what adhesive to reattached the plastic to the glass?

It does not seem that you can buy the weatherstripping for the windshield by itself. Here is a picture of the diagram for the windshield part FG1Z-5403100-A. It would be insane to have to replace the entire rear windshield just to repair/replace that weatherstripping.

Actually, your picture is of the front glass. Regardless, the piece you are talking about is not available separately from the glass. IMO, that piece being loose should not cause water to leak into the trunk. A more likely cause would be poor sealing of the tail light wiring grommet. That was the cause of moisture collecting in the trunk of my 2016. I used RTV sealant to seal the grommets and the leakage stopped.

In addition to experiencing (both) the tail light leaks, I found my 2014 trunk gasket had consolidated over time and there were several gaps.

On a sunny day, I folded the back seats down and crawled into the truck and found that in several locations I could see daylight that could allow wind driven rain.

I replaced the gasket.
