So I tried installing the kit today and after calibrating the sensor I could not get the gauge to read anything els but 7.6 ersumshit. I got to reading that a heated O2 if not hooked up and installed in the exhaust it can be damaged. Is this true?

Yes, I believe it will damaged very quickly if not connected and exposed to hot exhaust gases.

I douth being exposed to air would hurt it. In fact in a long decel when gearing down etc the sensor would see only air getting pumped though the engine due to the fact that the injectors are shut off. My PLX has had hours of sitting there with no exhaust flow on the sensor.

Heating the sensor when there's nothing attached to it CAN damage it, I think.

Did you hook it up as per the instructions on the small sheet of paper?
IIRC the one set of instructions are different from the main instructions.

Connect the gauge's RED wire to switched 12v
Connect the gauge's BLACK ground wire at the LC-1's white ground point
Connect the gauges's WHITE wire to the wire to the LC-1's brown analog output 2
Connect the yellow wire for dimming (DO NOT CONNECT TO RHEOSTAT)
if not using this feature connect purple wire to ground.

My only experience with the LC-1 involved getting ****** at installing it and taking it back...Mine didn't have correct instructions, and their "help" portion was useless.

I learned my lesson, I'll never buy their stuff again. FWIW, I went with AEM, much easier, and I'm alot happier.

No you read that wrong. It says if the sensor is in the exhaust while car is running and not powered up it can damage the sensor.
