I think you could pull off 20's on a gen 2. I just put 18's on my gen 1, and there seemed to be quite a bit of room left. However, you would have to find some mighty skinny tires.

20's eek! that's huge..It probably would fit but that would look pretty scary. I like your 18's chris but I wouldn't go any bigger than that myself.

I hope you plan on having more money for tires than you do for rims. And with 20's, ouch, you better be looking over your hood for every *** hole. More power to you if you can do it. And I hope you like attention, with chrome 20's, you will be looked at by everyone. wink

Ok the SHO suspension is anything but luxury so 20's are gonna **** you in the ride department. And the smallest 20" tire you can go with is 245/35/20 which has an avg. of a 26.7" wheel diameter compared to the stock 26.2" from the 215/60/16 tires on the slicers. So your accel is gonna be slow with a higher topspeed and you better look into airbag suspension with all that money you say you have to play with. I wish you luck finding good looking 20" rims with a 5x108mm bolt pattern and 40mm-45mm offset, and i'm curious since money doesnt matter why dont you just buy custom drilled 20's?

To those that think they will dent 20's that easily they are wrong these sucka's weigh in at 30lbs-45lbs easily with no tire mounted so they would most likily make a dent in the road :p instead of the other way around. Plus my two cousin have the 245/35/20 on there '02 Max SE, and '02 Altima SE, with no problems in ride quality but this is due largely b/c they are brand new cars. In terms of speed/accel, lets just say they really lost to me after they mounted there 20's, they look f*cking hot but I dont think its worth the BIG slowdown in accel.

I knew Edien would chime in with his opinion. I agree with what he says. I have seen very few 5x5.25 20" rims, and what I have seen are FUGLY! :p

I would stick to the 18's if I were you. Post pics when you get them on.

must not flame....must not flame....must not..ahhh fukk it!!

Kid, WTF are you thinkin'? 20 inch rims? Do you know how radical of an aspect ratio you are gonna have to go to to get 20 rims to fit? Do you know what an aspect ratio is? You will end up with a tire with a sidewall height of maybe 2 inches. Do you know why man has been using pneumatic tires since there have been cars? It's cause they need to have a little give when you hit a pothole, curb, etc....I personally could never see going any bigger than a 17 inch rim, but then again, that's me. I gotta buy new tires/rims when I cut/dent them, and unlike you, I ain't got daddy bank rolling my rig. If I did I'd have him buy me a new Carrera. Why mess around with the cheap stuff.

And to the guy with the 500 lb 20 inchers, yes they will dent. And you will cut a sidewall even if they don't. And tell your rich little cousins that yes, their ride quality does suffer. Not that they would even know the difference. I guess actually that ride quality is just fine as your rolling thru the freshly paved McD's parking lot showing every body your cool 20 inchers at 3 miles an hour. For christs sake, why not just get a slo and crap it up.

Damn, I hate it when I do that, but some people just need to be flamed.

BTW, do you have yer neon under body lights yet? How bout the ones that go with the chromed 6 inch exhaust tips?

Just to let you know I was the one who suggested 20's. BUT I only said they would fit, not that he should get them.
But I know you weren't flaming me, just wanted to say that.

Plz tell me your not directing this towards me?

WTF are you talking about, rich cousins? Its called having a job, a good one at that, when you find one you'll know what I mean. If our family were rich you think we would live in pawtucket RI? And they've been riding on there 20's for the past 2mths and I have ridden in it, it ridesd better than my SHO and almost the same as my TL-S with the stock 17's. Thats why i'm only planning on 19's for my TL-S. And the aspect ratio isnt all too bad considering its 35 of a 245mm tire which i said above is the smallest 20" tire.

If you werent talking to me, i'd still suggest you shut up wink  .

actually, yes I was directing it towards you. I take back the assumption about the rich part however, my bad. I was kinda hung up on mr "hi, I'm 16 and I got more jack than brains".

Now back to rest of my flame! IMHO if you are rolling around in a brand new TL and you are not rich, you should reconsider where all your cayshe goes. That's one fine lookin' SHO you go, RI. Sell the TL. Then maybe you can afford to move outta Pawtucket and not live off of mac and cheese wink ! But, your listening to the bitter ramblings of an old man (39) with other expenses like a mortgage, groceries and two materialistic brat kids that want everything. Would you believe my 10 year old daughter asked me if she was gonna get the SHO when she get's her license the same day I brought it home?

As for your cousins' 20" rims, even with a 245/35 tire, it's gonna be kinda short, about 85mm or alittle over 3 inches. And if the streets of Pawtucket are anything like any other depressed New England ********, you are gonna be forking over dough on rims and tires, unless you drive like a *****, 10 miles an hour because you're paranoid about dinging another one. And I still think that ride quality has got to be kinda harsh. It may be better than your SHO, but, looks like you got some pretty big rims on that too.

Well, no hard feelings, I hope. Sorry again about the spoiled rich punk assumption, that was more directed at rio!! But these boards would get kinda boring without a good flame or two. If I'm ever in Pawtucket, I'll keep an eye out for you and your cousins and their ridiculously over sized rims! Maybe we can even have a beer.

Actually its a TL-<font color="red">S or Acura TL Type-S :p . And how is owning a $31,000-$35,000 sedan considered rich? I dont have the title I just make payments, plus any idiot out there can lease anything under $40,000 I just happen to pay payments to own one :) . And I do have other expenses, I consider myself self-made b/c i'm the only one putting myself through college, paying for everything, and I work my ass off too hard to have some ****** off middled-age man going through a mid-life crisisin try to me things came easy to me, thats why I went on the attack. My friend in his GS400 has 20"rims with 245/40/20 upfront and 285/35/20 in the rear for ova yr with no dents. And his previous 20's went through 2 winters, it all come down to the driver, plus a $48,000 car with Lexus quality suspension helps out on the ride. Now my cousins rides great for 20's all u feel is a muted bumps on the roads so its dam good ride for 20's. Plz dont be ignorant and say it can be "this and this" just b/c u can feel for urself, trust me when you can get yourself to spend money on bigger better cars you would know what I mean, this is coming from a working(student) 24yr old that knows how to invest and use his money.

You drink beer? Thats for boys you gotta try spanish moonshine or barcardi 151 proof if you wanna start drinking with me and my family :D .

I guess ride quality is all relative. I'm sure the TL with the 20s rides nicer than the ford fiesta I had about a hundred years ago rode. Man, ws that thing brutal. And, yes, I do consider 31,000 dollars alot to pay for a ride, particularly if yer bustin' your ass working your way through school. Can ya make the payments Yeah, I guess. Just seems like you would have to give up a lot of other stuff to do it. But, since you're payin' your own way, I can respect your decision. At least you're smart enough to avoid the fleece err I mean lease scam.

Good luck and watch out for those *** holes. BTW, one day you'll be married and find out that wives actually aim for *** holes, then you'll probably wanna put a set of monster mudders on your Acura!!

Pete

P.S. You drink that shit straight up? ARRGGGHHHH!! I tried doin' that once. I'll stick with my honey brown.

Most rims > 17" = rice. Simple equation.
So most rims bigger then 17's are RICE? The new BMW M3 comes with 19's stock, so I guess that M3's are all riced out. :D :D :D

Well, he did say most. I think it depends on the car. An accord w/19 inch rims looks absurd, IMHO. The M3 on the other hand has been designed from the factory to take the 19s. This means it has large enough wheel wells to put decent sized tires on them. As for the sho, I'm guessing that about 17 or 18 is about as large as you should go. Any bigger and you run the risk of rim tire damage, unless you're RI-SHO or one of his cousins who is particularly adept at pothole avoidance!!! wink And you also get that shopping cart ride quality. As for me, I happen to think that the 16 inch slicers are the best lookin' wheel I've seen on a SHO. And it's a damn good thing since I'm way too cheap to fork over the jack for the oversized stuff.

one other thing. I get a kick outta guys who keep using RICE as a defamatory term, when their driving a RICE powered ford. Actually, I guess part of the motor is Ford, the part that gives all the trouble (DIS, MAF....etc...).
