Hey guys (and girls). I'm going to be replacing my struts/springs/strut mounts in the spring and I had a question. I'm kind of on a tight budget and I'm looking for advice from the community. I'm going to be getting the Moog springs (and possibly cut a coil, not sure though) and I'm not sure which struts to get. I've read a lot of people don't like the KYB struts. Would the GR-2 struts be ok, or should I spend the extra $40 or so and go for the Sensa-Tracs? I'm not looking to AutoX the car or anything. What do you guys suggest?

Sensa-trac > KYB

From what I've read on here, it seems the KYBs just won't hold up. I wouldn't bother with them on a SHO.

From what I have read here , the KYBs are complete crapola. Monroematics or sensatraks should be in your shopping cart.

Do a search here with the word KYB.

sensatracs n moog cargo coils= the fo shizzle ,have em on my 95 with about 25000 miles n works fine .I cut 1 1/2 coils out of the front and did not cut the rears,as anyone here that knows me I live outa my car on cause of work.If you don,t use yours as an RV cut 1/2 coil out of the rear just be aware that this does set the car down quite a bit!No curb jumping n you WILL scrape on any kind of incline in the asphalt or a driveway! But damn it looks good and has a great rake.

Thanks for the input guys. I've seen a lot of people on here with the Monroe's. Like I said, the car is not going to get tracked or used for autocross, but if the general opinion is to stay away from the KYB's then I'll definitely get the Sensa-Tracs. I did look through the Help & Maintenance and the Performance Upgrades Suspension sub-forums before posting, but I have to admit that I didn't use the ever-elusive search button.

shonuffmine - how much is quite a bit lower? I wouldn't mind the stance being a little lower, but I don't want to have to worry about scraping all over the place.

Thanks again guys!

I'm in the same boat. From the research i've done i'd stay away from kyb and go sensatrac. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time take a look at shosources coilover setup they're coming out with soon. I might be buying them. My sho came with kyb on the rear, I think they're junk.

I'm surprised I never saw your car in NP. I was there every weekend for a while and a lot during the week.

I live in NP and I work in Wappingers. The car is parked for the winter now and she'll come back out in the spring. I think I've only seen one other SHO around here. It was a white gen2 at the Hess station on 9W in Highland a few months back. We should get together once I bring her out of hibernation. lol

i like wills stance for what he haas into it. if you want to save a little money the monroematic is right up your alley. i have monroematics on all 4 corners and it handles well and iirc paid less than 220 for all 4.

We discussed this at Kirk's shop the last time Will was up. Kirk and I are pretty sure that Will has cargo coils uncut on the drivers side, and Intrax on the passengers side. Perfectly level if he's sitting in it....

I'm not really concerned with the curbs and parking lot bumpers. I'm more worried about speed bumps and stuff like that. The resonator on my Borla cat-back sits a little low as it is and I don't want to scrape or catch the exhaust or anything.
