I found someone selling the KYB GR-2 struts for about $230 is that a good price?

I was thinking I could go with those and moog springs, get a better ride and lifetime warranty without getting too $$$

i wont be the first to post this, but please dont use the KYB struts. they are very weak. i installed them on a friends car with Eibach springs right before one of our runs. 300 miles later, the struts wer already worn out.

IMHO, the KYBs are softer than stock or the valving is too weak.

for a few extra bucks, you could get Monroe Sensatracs and have a better ride.

DHMag,

Where do you suggest I buy the monroe senstrac struts from? Does advance or autozone someplace like that carry what I need? Also I get confused on those strut mounts, exactly what do I need to replace when doing this?

I picked up my monroe sensatracs for my Titanium from Rock-Auto. But many places can get them, including Sears. Monroe often has a buy 3 get one free offer. If you wait for such an offer, it is well worth it. Plus, the Monroes also have a lifetime warranty.

Do a search in regards to replacement parts. Ive posted a list of items a few times in the past :thumb:

Advance sells them, but I'd stay away from sears, cause they charge way too much. Sears Auto Center charges too much for everything.

5000 miles on stock springs? SHOs must eat struts for lunch then. My SLO ran fine with them as long as I owned it.

I've had KYB's with OE springs on the back of my 93 (total miles, 145K) for about 4~5 years so that's about 50K miles. I believe they are still functioning per design, no pogo effect. On the front of the same car I've got Monroe's with OE springs. The Monroe's went on before the KYB's.

Overall the ride in this older (145K) 93 SHO is relatively stiff much more so than in my low mile (60K) 95.

The fronts ALWAYS go before the rears. Simple matter of payload.

Front struts die.
Rear coils sag.

The story of a Taurus.
