ok i decided in a couple of weeks i am gonna pick up the koni intrax combo (nuthing but the best for the money pit) i was wondering what the cheapest place to get these parts form would be and also i know that the current strut house needs to be used for the koni's now how easy would is this to do without a full lift and access to basic handtools and what not around the garage (meaning is there anything special i need)...or would i be better just taking it to a suspension place and if so how much would that set me back

Konis can be had from www.shox.com

Springs -- probably Summit Racing.

Tools: jack, stands, good hand tools, hacksaw and drill (for drilling out the old strut housings), and spring compressor.

Make sure you check the other components while you have it apart (control arms, tie rods ends, upper strut mounts, bearings, etc.)

Also, I may be the only person that has had this problem, but I have replaced my Konis several times over the last 5 years. I'm not too impressed with how they hold up. In contrast I have a friend that runs his SHO with me at track events and his Tokicos have been holding out much better.

Lance, I have replaced mine 3 times now front and rear. The first sets (92-94?)were not up to ***** and Koni redesigned them. I went thru a set and then another and just in the last year my third. But,mu theory is I put them at full firmness for mu autocrosses and then would leave them that way for a couple years. The rears were so hard to get at and adjust. I now will absolutely not even go to 1/2 firmness unless autocrossing. I also spend about a half hour and take out rear seat, shoulder belt, speakers. While I'm at it I see how my sub woofers are doing and I clean up the speakers. Usually find some loose change,m&m's,popcorn under seat. I also find it is beneficial to spray some wd-40 on top of the adjusting stem to prevent it from locking into a set position making future adjustments very hard. I also know that if the rear sway bar bushings are the least bit worn (especially the thicker ones)then this can cause quite a jackhammer effect and cause premature life of the rear struts. And they are lifetime so even if they have to be changed I don't mind because I get the chance to change out the other related parts. I personally have Koni's on all my vehicles since 1984 and will never change that. It'll be interesting to see how long this set last. boink
