The remote sensor (keyless entry)for my 93 sho only works when i am like 10 feet away, any farther than that it wont work...my question is, is it the remote thats not working right or is it just the sensor on the car? my dad has a 99 sho, and his will work from inside are house which is well over 200 ft or more away......any info would be appreciated.

I don't want to sound like a wise-ass, but did you check to see if maybe the battery in the remote is old and needs replacement?

Hmm, the batteries in the remotes of my aftermarket system are 12 volt units...

Do yours say they're 3 volt batteries?

Hmm. I'll bet the range will really increase with 12 volters in there... thumbs_u

Steve

PS Just kidding. Don't really try that or you'll let the magic smoke out of the transmitters.

Are there diff remote styles that use diff batteries?? Both of the remotes that came from the factory with mine take 2 x 3volt button batteries. But I know from workin' at RadioShack for 3+ years that alotta remotes use 12volt batteries instead but they aren't button cells.

i dunno a lot about them, but my 93 factory remote takes two 3volt batteries, my parents 99 sho takes only one 3 volt battery, but its thicker than the batteries in mine, their one is about as thick as my 2 together.

I have the same problem I have to be like 10 feet in front of my car and I recently got a new transmitter. Maybe I need new batteries as well. If you change the batteries do you have to reprogram the transmitter... Thanks Derek burn_out burn_out

nope, no need to reprogram it when you change the batteries...i tested my batteries, and they were still showing like 3.43 and there only 3 volt batteries..all i did was clean the inside of my remote out, and it works a lot better.
