keyless entry/transponder

How do I know if my car orginally came with one. I do have the keypad on my car now but did it come with both. And if my car does have one can I just use any transponder as long as its on the same frequenzy? Anyone?

What year is you SHO? Remote keyless with a transponder was only available starting in '93.

yes! i have a 93' i also have the key pad, but didnt know if i had the remote keyless entry. i have seen the remote on ebay before. but i wasnt to sure if i had it, what should we look for. im guessing its under the dash somewhere.or do we have to program the remote.

its a 93, and like i said it already has the keypad. I saw on a differnt post that the easiest way to tell is if you have 3 connections on your keyless entry control box u are set up to have a transponder. I'm just not sure after looking at mine if its right or not. i have to plugs on the bottom of it but i also have a wire that runs up the side, it looks the same as an antenna wire. maybe I'll post some pictures later

The connectors will be together in a cluster. If there are 3 there you can use the remotes.
