Will all sho's that are equiped with a keypad keyless entry system also take a remote keyless entry, or is there something different about the ones with a remote keyless entry? Any input would be awesome as I'm getting ready to purchase one. :salute:

Stangeater,

I don't know if anyone ever responded to you. This is not a direct drop in replacement. The connectors are completely different. That said, you can put the 93+ RKE on a 92 with some rewiring. That's what I did on my 92. It's easy but a little tedious. Then again, I took a lot of time, soldered, spliced, and shrink-wrapped all of the connections. I'm a stickler for keeping mods stock-looking. The only things I haven't hooked up yet are the horn chirp and park light flash.

If you are interested, I'd be happy to send the changeover wiring chart I made. It includes colors, pinouts, etc. Just let me know.

Later,

Daniel

Stangeater, like said above, only 93+ came with the remote keyless. With a little rewiring you CAN install it into your 92 or earlier. I have the module from a 94 I just havent wired it in yet.

dantheman68,

I've run up on this often enough to know what sort of pain it can be. My first suggestion is to remove the aftermarket alarm and "fix" the wiring that was altered. That said, does your keypad work? Will it open the doors, trunk, lock the doors, etc.? If it does, then (and this may be a stupid question) are you sure your remote is programmed for your RKE box? Also, if your keypad does work, then there is always the possibility that your remote is bad.

Yes, I've done it and created easy to follow instructions. If you want parking light flash, you will have to include a relay, since the RKEM doesn't put out enough voltage (not included in my instructions) The horn is a direct connect. Send me a PM with you email address and I'll send you a copy of the instructions.
