Not a true emergency but I have a two hour drive ahead of me today and my Kenwood CD player quit working last night. It is a flip face and it flipped half around (like it is ejecting the CD) and now nada. I checked the fuses and hit the reset button on the player itself. Still nothing. I know the unit is getting power because after I hit the reset button the face starts to close then returns to the ejecting position. The worst part about it is my Tool CD is stuck in it... Suggestions?

Whats the problem? Is it the little gold connector cable (called the flex cable. It provides power and instruction to the deck to the faceplate)? I had a similar problem with mine.. Lemme know if that's what it is and I'll help you from here

I beleive the radio you have is a 4 volt exelon, which came factory in the Mazda MP-3's. I ahd the same problem with mine. I took it to a kenwood dealer and got it fixed for 50 bucks. I dont remember what the exact problem with it was. I actually still have it stuffed in the closet somewhere...

Yeah, I checked the gold ribbon cable and it seems to have continuity from end-to-end...

Well, you said in your previous post that you researched the problem and found out what it was. Can you tell us what you found out the problem is?

The 'common' problem with the Kenwoods is the ribbon cable from the main board inside the unit to the faceplate goes bad and looses connectivity. Mine seems to be ok but I think I am gonna try and replace that anyway to see what happens...
