What's that they say about "assuming" . . . ?
No, chances are that I've called repeatedly but can't get a hold of the "owner". When you call the number, it immediately goes to a recording; "
the owner's voicemail cannot accept any additional messages . . . ." and then hangs-up. But I figured a way around that.
This is not the first time. Apparently he came by p-n-p looking for parts, and left numbers including his cell. I called several times but never got a return call before leaving for the convention. I get back from the east coast run, and the SHO pops-up on CL. And yes, I still have that piece of paper [looks for the "stick-your-tongue-out" emoticon] . . . .
At the time I didn't realize it was the same SHO. I called the number James gave me, shortly after we spoke. After "several" attempts, some other guy answers, said the owner was not there and he would have him call me. After asking a few more questions (like, where is the SHO, can I see it / do you want to take my name and number / etc.), he tells me it's not there and was towed earlier. When I asked if he needed my name and number so the owner could return the call, it didn't sound like he wrote it down . . . .
So last night, in going through my "things to look for that someone wants but none of the yards have" print-outs, I find the number matches the number from the CL ad. I called both numbers today, getting a female at the number in the ad, and his girl friend at the cell number. Neither mentioned it being sold, but I still haven't received a return call.
And what's this "AGAIN" shit ?
Oh yeah, that $900 blue 94 ATX the kid was selling because he lost his license, well, it wasn't in bad shape. I mean, the cladding being held on the doors, fender with sheetmetal screws didn't look too bad . . . .
Ask Eric VerValin about how much you could NOT see in the CL photos of the SHO we went to look at last week.
Then there was the $2500 Florida 1992 MTX, that while it had no rust, had paint that was much worse than mine (ie. multiple various shades of "white" to "yellow-white").
Outside of that, most of the others have been wrecks people have pieced back together with various colored Taurus parts. Not to mention, you can't buy what you don't have the money for . . . .
Yesterday, I realized that one of the 94 Sable wagons was the same moonlight blue color as the Fort Wayne SHO. The hood was cherry, both fenders were in excellent shape, both front doors excellent and no rust along the bottom door-skin seal. It was pulled and crushed this morning before the front door opened . . . .
Oh, and I went to look at the White 95 SLO at Riverside with 68,000 miles on it, to consider buying the rear clip. Gone and crushed. Went to Taylor's to look at the White 94 ATX. Gone and crushed.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think someone is trying to tell me to wait . . . .
I havent heard from him, so chances are he did NOT go look at it, and passed up a great deal AGAIN.....
He has a habit of not going and looking/missing good deals?
I just looked at that one, looks like a great deal to me. Hope he can get it.
