I should of just cleaned my intake valves while i had the intake manifold off last week. Live and learn. Good practice on ecoboost engine maintenence though

Normally on the SHO, it is hardly a problem. BUT if you start getting oil coming off the intercooler into the manifold, yeah, that can build up quickly. I believe airflow is biased anyway towards bank 1, so more crud would accumulate there.

Yea and once it gets alittle gap in the seat and gets worse overtime and running it hard then the computer compensates for a miss and make the car run like crud and just makes it worse and worse. Oh do you know if this engine is a valve to piston contact engine if a time chain fails or anything?. I think all my other vehicles. Furthest down the valve can travel and TDC of piston dont contact. Just wondering incase valve can stick open enough for piston to smack it

Dont know for sure about the interference/noninterference part. I believe it is interference tho. The yamaha based engines were noninterference when stock.

Have seen occasional timing chain stretch but no breakage yet on the SHO.

I know the ecoboost 3.5l had all kinds of little issues like the chain and some thing when it came out in 010 but mine is a late 2015 model year car. Plastic valve covers. No shrader valve. But i hope it has some of the earlier issues figured out.

Well when i get home from work around 1 or so im going to take the intake manifold off the car again and carefully clean the intake valves by hand. I just gotta watch for carbon chunks. Dont want a broke turbine fan or a hurt piston. I mainly want to clean the cylinder thats bad. But im going to deep clean all the intake valves. I dont know if it will help but usually my first guess is the right guess but i choose to ignore it most of the time hahaha

Ill keep up with the forum. It will probly take me most of the day but ill have an answer to the intake valves by nightime. Maybe it will help others down the road chasing a misfire code. No matter what im keeping the car. Old motor or new motor. And yes it will still be livernois tuned. There tune didnt directly cause it but it helped me make it worse by making me love flooring it. Ill have a catchcan in the future also. And if WE can get this engine going strong again. I got a quote for multiport meth from livernois mainly because it can clean the valves also. And i like to floor it

Oh forgot to mention when i did compression test on my bad cylinder i took spark plug out and it was bathed in oil. Like so much i thought i dropped it into a oil can. And it was new last week. Sorry i post alot. Im a little weird and unusual and goofy with some brains  :slap:

I love the emojys also

BTW, valve cover gaskets do leak (especially Bank 1), so if the valve cover cleaning does not work out, that would be next on my list for replacement. VC gasket & plug well seals if any.

I cleaned valves real good today. They were horrible. Put it back together. And yes. Still the same. Misfiring. I drove it around after i let it idle for awhile. No code at idle and no code with foot on the brake in S mode. Only throws code now when i accelerate from a stop up till about 3-4k rpm. Then it seems to drive fine but i can still feel the miss. It dosnt smoke as much now either and oil is still full. Car is cooling down and then ill check compression a few times on that cylinder. Hopefully it raised it a bit from cleaning it

I didnt get a pic but the others are normal and the bad cylinder one is oil from couple threads to electrode

Compression is still between 30-50 on that cylinder. Ill probly just take it to ford now. Anything else is a big job. Like a headgasket or maybe rotating if they say its bad. Ill probly mess up the cams trying to get the head off anyway

It only needs a cylinder head.

I'm going to bet they will try to sell you a long block. (Its easier/safer).

My thought is if you have run a few cans of sea foam/top engine cleaner the scrap you saw in the exhaust was the scrap cleaned out.

The plug is dirty because of no combustion to burn the a/f or partial burn.

I would suggest asking why, and ask for test results when you go to the dealership. Make sure they tell you the cylinder leak down results both percentage and where it's leaking. If they tear it down, ask what damage they see.

I bought the car at auction in dearborn michigan with 42k on it. Smashed fender. Bleach on rear carpet. Bald as **** tires. No oil change ever given to it from original owner who just ran it hard without caring for it. Id rather get a new engine and upgrade the turbos. Probly 6-8k for new longblock. Peace and mind of a new engine to take care of from the beginning

Maybe something can be learned from this. Or close to this.
Kids dont unplug your spark plug cord on your bigblock with an hei system while holding the hood with your other hand while the engine is running. It can overcook your little noodle like it did to mine 4 years ago

Been there.... I unplugged the coil wire on a turbo'd 408 and draped it over the strut support. Told my buddy to bump the motor.....it arched while I was holding onto the support. I was grounded and had my junk against the car. Yeah the car kinda ran through me...

MSD Blaster HVC coil, powered by a MSD 7al box.....S*** hurt real bad.
