Ok so far this week I've spent around two-hundred on little pick-me-up parts for the SHO they go as follows:

- 93+ Steering wheel (black)
- New Shift **** (Ford OEM, will show in picture thread after Saturday)
- Ricetastic blue gauge faces to replace god-awfully-lit green reverse glows.
- Throttle body cover
- Vanity Cover by front of car under hood.
- Taylor 8.2mm Blue Wires
- Autolite Plugs
- OEM Ford Keys (never had a set with the OEM black grip)

Now I am looking at more, but have yet to justify spending the money on it, what do you guys think:

- Redline Shift Boot (black leather with dark blue stitching) $60
- 93+ Center Console (if I can find one in black probably 40-80 depending on who's selling)
- Clear Corners $35-50

Should I?

I'd ditch the aftermarket shift boot idea......... they look ricer-ish imho

thats a lot of money too, better off spent on something else, if you find a gen2 center console, just be sure to narrow it down to one with a nice boot.......

if you want to fix up the inside a little bit, get some nice floormats in black to make it have some new stuff for the interior.... maybe its just me but that makes a noticeable difference to me

you can use half the money from that shift boot on a nice set, and use the rest on some detail products to clean up the inside panels/seats

If you love the car go for it

Whenever i spent money on my gen 2, i was dissappointed, but when it was done I was happy, sometimes even putting just $50 worth of parts on it can make your week.

P.S. Justify? there is never a reason to justify spending money, we just do, if we don't we all work our ***** off for nothing

even if you bought a $20 movie every pay, you feel better for working 60+ hours because you get to enjoy it, so yeah spend a little more on your car, its yours and you worked for it

I'd lose the shifter boot and spend the money on clear corners, IMHO makes the the front alittle cleaner with them on! and clean the headlights while your at it! that's money well spend right there! I could've lived with the gauge faces and put money else where.... to each there own.

The redline shift boots are leather, just like ours, the only difference between it and the plastickey-feeling leather ones we have is that I would get blue stitching, otherwise its the same just cleaner.

Grabbed a set of Ford floormats, and they do the job nicely, I detail the interior every week, so that's not an option, just part of my saturdaily routine.

Already bufed the headlights with rubbing compound and wet sanded them and then waxed them, theyre as clean as theyre gonna get, lol.

The gauges I can't live with because, aside from ugly factor, they don't function well for night time highway driving, they're far too dim. Ricey blue, as annoying as it may be, is really my only option sub $50.

I agree with Bubba, lose the shifter boot idea and get the clear corners. It makes the front of your SHO look different. Remember me telling you about the fishtank light mod the day I met you at Tom's? That's a nice cheap mod to do. Fishtank light mod here. Do it! Do it! I realize you didn't ask for mod ideas, but hey it costs less than 10-15 bucks. FTW w/clear corners. Just look at my sig pic :)

I'd lose the shifter boot and spend the money on clear corners, IMHO makes the the front a little cleaner with them on!

You guys have no idea how nice the stuff from Redline Goods are. The quality is night and day from the factory boot the SHO came with.

It fits absolutely perfect too. I know, I had the first one they made, along with the first 2 centre console covers. :)

its not that the shifter boot might not be of good quality, its just that its a little cheasy

if I were already going to be in the market for a different center console, I'd just buy one with a nice boot already on it....

its kind of waisted money when he already has to buy one.......

agreed ^ I just don't justify, sending the money on a shifter boot! I would use that for the finishing touches on everything....

zomg if you dont get the console your car will totally fall apart and without clear corners your going to hit a deer and possibly get hurt. you definitely need these things for your car man i would get them as soon as possible.

there, justified.

btw colored stitched shift boot = ****

The thing is that even a brand new factory boot is still made from the same plasticky and rough vinyl. These boots are made from soft, high quality real leather and are custom made for each vehicle. The fit is identical to the factory boot, it's just far nicer.
Maybe most people here have cars with such crappy and worn interior that they don't see the point of making it a bit nicer.

I fail to see how a shift boot is any different than someone getting clear corners, new badges, gauge face, paint/powdered intake manifold, etc. None of those add any functionality to the car, but instead just make the car nicer in different ways.

P.S. I hate aftermarket universal floormats, they always slide around and usually look stupid. If you're going to get floormats, at least spend the money and get mats made specifically for the vehicle.

kinda. if it were black with tan leather stripe that would be amazing. i think the body color inside the car is kinda ricey.

you came here telling us to justfy what parts you want to put on your car. You cant justify clear corners or a shift boot. You dont need these parts.

i can bet you 100 bucks you should have spent that 300 bucks worth of crap on maintenance. but hey, its your sho.

Then it has to do with the style, not that a shiftboot is *** or cheesy (how a shiftboot can be *** still has me stumped). Not to mention you can have the Redline boot done anyway you want.

Well the boot you got from Autozone is not custom made and fitted to the SHO. I don't doubt that you got it to fit your car fine, but I am 100% confident that the Redline Goods shiftboot is a wee bit higher quality and fit nicer than the Autozone one you got.

well shoot, then I guess none of us even need to be here then huh? anything beyond maintenance isn't technically needed, so let's all just stop the modification game and quit.

For the record, you would lose that bet. For starters, I didn't spend $300, I spent $200. Secondly, and more importantly, I am current on all maintenance. Belts, plugs, wires, 60K (done 10K ago), axles, bearings, hubs, brakes, tires, alignment, oil (synthetic), coolant, air filter, and, ****, even battery terminals have all been done within the last several months. So now I'm to the part where I make the car mine. Have I said, "what color should I paint my intake with Duplicolor and no prep?", or "how much louder can I make my car if I remove the cats?", or "If I cut my springs will I get better performance?" ? No. I have asked simply if, given the same position, the members of this forum would do the same things.

A simple no from you would have sufficed. The assumption that I don't maintain my car or that your opinion on the caliber of the good matters to me is ludicrous. I simply said, justify this for me. If you don't wish to do this, why flame? Why cause an issue?

I'm assuming you have a '92?

And if it were me, I would get the 93+ center console for sure. Looks alot better IMO, especially with all the other G2 interior. And the clear corners do wonders for the looks of the front end, as long as everything else up there is up to par... Makes it look cleaner and stand out more.

And for the shift boot, why not? I can't see some pictures here at work but as far as I remember, those shift boots look pretty good and are great quality. If you want the blue pinstriping, that's up to you; it's your car. But yes, I would go for the boot too if not only to replace/upgrade the stock one to one of better quality...

Is your entire interior black?
