Well the sales manager texted me and dropped it another 300 bucks. That puts it at 12500.00, without the warranty. And yes, the warranty is another 4900.00. think I'll decline that . If I put tires on it, that's another 500.00 off. He showed me the print out saying it books at 14,700. Can't understand why they would want to take a loss at the auction. Think I'll call tomorrow and make a final offer on her and see.

I wouldn't go over 11K absolute max, and I wouldn't feel good about it at that price. These cars do not sell quickly and the value drops like a rock. You are better off either going to the auction and looking for one as someone said, or just keep on looking. Best thing you can do when looking for one of these is don't be desperate. I looked for five months to find my 2011 and got a great deal. I'm at 152K miles now and have been extremely lucky with no major repairs, but I've been looking for a 2014 or 2015 for almost 9 months now. I look at least twice a week at every one for sale within 500 miles of me, and they tend to sit at the dealers for months before they sell and the price drops a lot over that time.

Walk away.....even if they come down on price you have fairly major components for R/R soon and not easily or inexpensive components to Remove and Replace. If you do b y need Turbos, recommend R/R both at same time. If any head work in involved like R/R make sure you get the timing chain and water pump replacement. The biggest saving of that is the.....In the neighborhood factor and reduce having to go in again for a while.

So after all the back and forth, I spoke with the real used car sales manager and we agreed on a price.Way under 11k lol. Now I own a ruby red metallic, 2013, PP SHO. I'm really liking this car. Never thought I'd be impressed with a Taurus, but live and learn. And the best thing is I can do whatever I want and not worry about voiding the warranty. Everything works fine and she drives and handles better then my 03 Mustang GT, which I'm still driving too. Thanks for all the input and advice. I'm sure I'll have questions soon, but for now I''ll be reading the forums and learning from you guys.

Thanks. I really do like it. So far the worst thing about it is trying to keep my girlfriend from wanting to drive it to work everyday. It's a fun ride for sure.

Dude that is sweet i over paid on mine but the miles is no big deal wost case is you buy some parts that after owning the car for a min you will find you want to buy them anyways. I bought mine with 88k amd now has 128k (110 miles a day) and it is tuned with mix e85 runs like a champ. Tring to get my wife out of her tahoe and in a flex but she said she doesnt want to drive a Hurst... oh well. Anyways nice job and welcome to the SHO brother!

I picked up a black 2014 w/pp two weeks ago with 47k miles on it and i didnt get extended but am back and forth on adding it because although the car runs great and is in excellent condition, its by far the most miles i ever bought a car with. I got it for 19k which seemed like an ok deal albeit slightly above kbb but 19k for a car that retailed for 45k+ and in great condition and under 50k miles seemed like well worthwhile. Not to mention its the only one i could find anywhere near me in this price range. Ive seen many on carmax with more miles, not pp going for 22+. I was rolling in 2k negative equity from a 2016 premium wrx so all together it end up costing me 21k which im still good with.

Car was also well maintained from the look of service records. Has newer tires and battery and oil was recently changed. I bought it from a lincoln dealership and atleast have the 3 month/3k dealer warranty to contemplate the extended warranty purchase.

So I've been checking out this forum for a little while and have a question for those more informed then I. I've been looking at this 2013 SHO, PP, Metallic Red, with 149,000 on the odometer. The dealer is asking 13k for her. I like it a bunch and the color and package is great. But should I stay away from her just based on the mileage? She drove really well and didn't make any strange noises and no puddles after I ran her hard. If I go back for her what should I really look hard at, as I'm not well versed in the problems she may be hiding. Thanks all for your input.

Spending a couple thousand more makes a lot more lower mileage vehicles available to you. Pay now, or pay later...

With any luck you're mechanically inclined. Now is a good time to act on maintenance items like changing the fluid in the PTU, RDU, transmission and a set of spark plugs. When it's time for your first oil change, send a sample off to Blackstone Labs or a reputable lab that does automotive oils. They can give you a good idea if you have any issues with wear metals, antifreeze, or fuel dilution. Before I dropped a dime into tunes or parts to make it pretty, I'd get it fresh in all those tender spots. I own it's twin less about 100k miles and I've done all the above. If you didn't get it from a Ford dealer, go to one and ask if they're willing to print you out an Oasis report- that will show everything the Ford dealers have touched on your car (If you bought it from a Ford dealer they should do it for you no questions asked). Enjoy bud, they're fun comfy rides.

I'm very surprised to see so many people airing on the side of this vehicle not being reliable on the top end of the mileage spectrum. Did not expect that. I just took ownership of a '10 SHO PP with 165k miles. FULL service history from 19k miles through current from the second owner (my uncle). Replaced the PTU at 151k miles, did all flushes twice(some 3 times), oil changes every 5k miles just about on the nose, brakes replaced twice, etc. It was my aunt and uncle's road car to and from NY from FL. It even survived a 13k mile trip across the country exploring the country's landmarks. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it on a long road trip. I actually flew up to ATL to pick the vehicle up and drive it back 450 miles to St. Pete, FL. Ran like a top, very solid feeling. So based on this vehicle alone, I would say these are relatively reliable vehicles with proper maintenance. Not sure how long I'll keep this vehicle since it's my third vehicle ('02 tbird, '02 GS430), but will enjoy this forum in the meantime.

People who have had problems are generally more likely to speak up. I think these cars are also more likely to have been beaten on by the owner than say a Honda civic. I've seen a couple for sale in the last six months that were over 200K miles, and right now there is a 2014 about two hours away for sale that has 160K miles on it.

I just got a 2014 with 47k on it and it feels and looks newer than the 2016 wrx i leased and traded in with only 11k on it. I'm really hoping it lasts a long time as i love this car. Ive read the 3.5 eco's are pretty strong and durable engines. I'm still up in the air on getting an extended warranty.

Trust those who have gone before you. PTU is almost a guarantee to need replacement. Water pump failure is almost certain death to the engine due to the design. Turbine failure another common high mileage issue.

If you have service records, fine. If not, start with the basics as has been stated.

Good luck.

Like others have stated, it all boils down to service records and how the car has been driven. Although the vehicle may “look great” it inevitably boils down to items will need to be replaced sooner than later. If you enjoy working on vehicles, than a high mileage vehicle might make sense from someone’s standpoint.
For me, I’m done with working under vehicles, as I get no more enjoyment from it anymore; nor have the time.
