Okay, just looking for a little feedback. I am considering throwing my SHO up for sale. :)eek: I know, I know!) I have a company car that I drive 98% of the time and then 3 other vehicles sitting around. (Mustang GT, Jeep Wrangler and SHO) I have been thinking about multiple options (like selling Mustang AND SHO and looking for something like Shelby GT500). Sorry, I digressed.

So at this point, I am not sure - really just somewhat researching/data gathering and looking for some feedback from who else? The SHO fanatics! :p

So in looking at KBB and NADA... for a private party retail sale... My 2013 SHO is somewhere in the range of $19-21k. What is everyone's opinion of that value? I am guessing that number is not too low - so the real question - is that a high figure? I have had very little luck getting comparables the past few weeks using eBay, Craigslist, AutoTrader, Cars.com, etc. I find one's sitting at dealer's lots like 2014/2015's with low miles asking for $25-27k. But that is also 1-2 years newer than mine. I have found rebuilt title SHO's for $10-13k. But I don't see many that are low mileage, clean title, perfect carfax's. So I don't know really what it's "Real World" value is...

I am a firm believer, something is only as valuable as someone is willing to pay. So what is the actual real world value and what are people actually buying these (now getting older) SHO's for? Is $20k reasonable asking price? $19k, $18k, $17k, etc etc etc

My SHO has approx: 29,5xx miles (I've put about 6k miles in 3 years)
  • Non-PP
  • Sunroof
  • Has adaptive cruise and auto parallel parking (not sure who actually considers that parallel parking a must have feature? I have never used it...other than to try it and make sure it works one time...yep it works :p)
  • Everything works perfect no issues (I just installed new Motorcraft battery...that was the only issue)
  • Livernois package (tune, 3-bar map, t-stat, plugs, dry drop in air filter)
If I do decide to move forward with selling, I will donate to the forum and create a thread in the classified section... as I do think this is a great place to find someone interested.

Really, for me, it all comes down to the car's value - if it's held up and would actually sell for a decent price I would be inclined to sell versus it sitting basically all the time. If it's value has plummeted and is going to cost me a bunch to offload, I may just keep looking at it everyday with the hood open and a battery tender sitting on it :D

Thanks in advance...
Angela

I had been watching the ohio/Illinois/Indiana market for the last six months when I was looking for a newer sho. As of about a month ago, the best deal I saw on a 2015 was 21,600 and it was a ford CPO 100K mile warranty car. There was another one I was looking at for 22K, it was a 2015 with 38K miles. With yours being private party and two years older, I would think realistically you would be lucky to get 16-17K for yours. I would probably put it up for sale at 19.5 and if there is no interest at that price, lower it after a week or two.

I paid a little more for mine than the absolute best deals I saw because I wanted a specific color and massaging seats was a dealbreaker for me, so if you find the right buyer you can always get a little bit more for yours.

In this part of the world, on the SHO, NADA has typically been at least $1000 too high, sometimes more.

Right now on Denver cl, there is a 13 w/ 55k for $22k and he is getting no traction on that at all.

I would agree that somewhere in the $19k range is what you could really get for it.

Carmax has a lot of SHOs and an easy to use website to view their entire inventory. Those are real world, non-negotiable prices.

I just paid 22k for an MKS ecoboost, same year, same mileage if that helps..

The other options are if you really wanted to get rid of the Mustang and SHO for another Mustang, see what a dealer would do on trade in. Unless you're to far in the red for a deal, but 9 out of 10 times, they can work it out. Just don't let them get ridiculous with payment amounts. They hate to take losses but will for a good sale. My personnel opinion is you can't have to many toys sitting around lol. I just switch off once a week lol.

That combined with not paying sales tax on the trade in amount if buying another car as part of the same deal and not dealing with what can sometimes be a real hassle selling a car privately.

Since there are only about 12 people active on this forum, I will need a list to eliminate the competition. Thank you.

First post here. Good forum guys.

I just delt with a pricing issue on a pretty hot 06 6.0 diesel that i ended up trading in for my 15 sho/pp. i had to put up a bunch of cash also obviuosly.

A good way to price a rig for sale is to talk to a couple of banks and find out what they will finance for your sho and then price it accordingly.

Trouble i had was banks would not finance kbb or nada value of the truck because it was old. So i bent over and traded it in for much less than its book value.

Pretty much anything over 10-15k most buyers are going to need financing so whatever the banks will loan for the car is its value.

Unfortunately, your issue had much more to do with the fact that everyone knows the 6.0 was a pos and there is no demand for them, hence the book value is way out of line with reality of the market.

Well with all due respect. The amount of money and work i had put into that driveline to make it a trustworthy 800+ Wheel tq pd more than reflected market value on its own. With that said you are correct in “was a pos”. :) its still worlds more reliable than the 6.4. Lol
Also that truck was claimed for purchase before i even signed papers for my new to me 15 sho/pp. i took a huge bath on the truck though.

Regardless the loan value is all anyone is going to get out of 95% of late model -getting old vehicles.
