Hi guys my names chris, i like long walks on the beach, midnight lov......

Oh sorry wrong post

Figured I would make it known that I have joined your elite club of Supercharged SHO ownership. I recently purchased John Mears S/C white 1992 with a throw rod.

I basically picked the car up for a song (nope not telling how much) with a bunch of spare parts, and ALOT of extra custom work.

Some of you know the car, some of you don't, but its here to stay. It is in good hands with Fred Hurder getting another rebuilt 3.2 low comp motor, but with even more goodies such as mikeys headers, a new true dual exhaust setup, P&P heads and a whole host of other goodies. Heres the Mod list.

General
• 120k
• Engine rebuilt at 108,000
• White body color, mocha interior color
• Properly tuned, the car generated 399 wheel horsepower

Engine
• Yamaha 3.0 liter engine block bored to 3.2 liters
• Forged JE pistons, 9.0:1 compression ratio
• Ported cylinder heads
• Stage 1 cam shafts
• Modified fuel rails
• 60 pounds per hour Mototron high-performance, high-impedance fuel injectors

Intake
• Extrude honed intake runners
• Enlarged throttle body
• Samco custom intake hose
• 90mm Ford Lightning mass air flow sensor
• Vortech V-2SQ CCW 12psi supercharger with custom bracket
• Vacuum operated wastegate
• K&N conical air filter mounted in fender
• Custom Spearco intercooler

Transmission
• 5 speed manual, rebuilt at 80,000
• Quaife limited slip differential
• Drain plug added

Exhaust
• Custom H-pipe with cross-over
• Removable CATS with straight-through replacement pipes
• 2.25 inch true dual aluminized steel pipes with cross-over
• Edelbrock Performer RPM mufflers, straight-through design

Suspension
• Eibach springs
• Koni adjustable struts
• 26 mm rear sway bar
• Urethane bushings
• Tubular adjustable rear control arms
• Subframe connectors
• Front strut tower brace
• Rear strut tower brace

Wheels and tires
• 17x8 alloy 5 spoke MAK “street” wheels with new Dunlop SP 5000 245-45ZR17 all weather tires
• 17x8 SHO Shop “track” wheels with Hoosier 245-45ZR17 racing slicks. Used three times at Summit Point Raceway.
• Full size spare mounted on original 16 inch “slicer” wheel

Body
• PIAA 940 dual fog/driving lights with custom electronics
• Shaved fender well lips on rear to accommodate bigger tires and wheels
• 30% tinted windows (coming off, looks like sh*t)

Interior
• Ford JBL sound system with cassette tape and CD players installed
• Built-in hands-free system and 4 watt linear amplifier for Motorola Star-Tac cell phone. (Getting ripped out) Antenna mounted on rear window at top.
• Hidden CB radio with trunk-lip mounted antenna
• Rickety Enterprises bolt-in roll-bar, painted to match Mocha interior
• Simpson 6-point racing harnesses for both front seats

Gauges
• A-pillar mounted gauge pod, installed with oil pressure, boost/vacuum, and fuel mixture gauges
• Gauges for fuel pressure, voltage, and exhaust gas temperature

Brakes
Front
• Baer Sport front brakes with 12.5 inch directional vented zinc-washed rotors and PBR 2 piston callipers
• Street-strip pad compound
• Castrol SRF extreme temperature racing brake fluid installed ($75 a quart)
Rear
• Rotors are stock zinc washed gen-3 front rotors, with shim to fit rear hub
• Factory calipers on modified brackets to accommodate larger rotors
• Yields greater rear braking torque
• Stainless braided brake lines

Electronics and engine control
• Factory ECU with attached SC Tuner flash ROM unit installed
• SC Tuner software included. Installs on your laptop or desktop and allows full control (through download) of timing and mixture, as well as other basic parameters of engine performance.
• MSD digital DIS-4 ignition installed
• Taylor 10.6mm competition spark plug wires

I would like a hand at learning the SC tuner software, if anyone would like to extend thier tutelage it would be greatly appreciated.

Thats all for now.

Gawd. Sure you didnt leave anything out there?

Good **** on the blower car. Make sure the number takeoffs is equal to the number of landings (first rule of flight school).

Ahh, yes. Chris finally succumbed to my constant badgering and bought a '92. Of course, he had to out-do me, so he goes and buys one with a belt driven intake manifold.

The Chris's now both drive white 92's... What is the world coming to?

Sort of a side Q.. but roughly is there a rough # of FI SHO's to date?

20? 40?

I know the #'s small, but it seems more and more are surfacing.

?????

Awesome car Chris, can't wait to see it.

*******. Welcome to the club.
Who tuned the car in the first place when it got 399WHP?
Car was built at SPmotorsports/Protech so i am guessing that they did it all.

Tony- I got the V1 and putting in a new alarm :)

I'm with Murph. Pictures! We want pictures! :D

Sounds like an awesome car, Chris. Congrats on your new purchase. thumb

One word of advice: if you're at all serious about tuning your new SHO, sell that SC Tuner and buy yourself a TwEECer RT from Josh. Trust me, after a year of playing with the SC Tuner on my own NA SHO, I can tell you the TwEECer is better overall and definitely a must-have for you FI guys (datalogging, etc). If you need help with your new software or tuning, et al, hit Josh up and see if he can help you with your FI tuning. If Josh won't spill any beans, shoot me an e-mail or PM and I'll see what I can do for ya.

I'm assuming you have the big fuel pump.

I'd buy the 15lb pulley from Vortch and the biggest John Holmes size K&N you can buy.

You should be able to hit 18lbs. Have Fred install Total Seal gapless rings. Texan Tony has been running those for a long time with no problems.

You got big injectors and forge pistons....go for it!

I'd also put some Nitto Drag Radials on the front or you are going to just spin spin spin.

It won't cure spinning but will help.

is 399 wheel hp good for your mods? not that i know anything, but that number seems 20-30 wheel hp shy of where it should be for the intake work and the stage I cams?

am i right?

Chris,
Before my engine went i was running close to 12 to 15 psi. You saw the ram air set up on my car. That was 12 to 15 psi of boost with the 3.41 pully. Now with the built bottom end.. forge rods and pistons, new rob bearings oil pump and seals. I think I AM ready to race this weekend. I'll let you know what happens. I will try to get a hold of mikely in that SLOW GTP... lol. I might have film.. If the weather is nice on saturday... My friend Scott might take out his viper to see what the car can do.
