Lately I've noticed that I have no say in what speed the fan goes, no matter what the screen says it always blows medium-strong. I used to be able to "fix" this issue by restarting the car but for a few weeks now it has been simply constant. Auto mode doesn't do anything but change which vent air comes out of.

I'm sort of glad it stuck on medium-strong rather than off completely but I would like to get this control back. Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance!

Typical of a resistor gone bad, but do not know OTTOMH whether the SHO setup has a replaceable resistor. May have to recalibrate the HVAC module instead. I would try disconnecting the neg batt cable for a few minutes to see if that resets the motor action :)

There is a blower speed control module. With the multiple speeds there isn't a typical resistor. Some sort of high capacity transistor so the fan can be pulse width modulated. The Cavite is the HVAC module does send a signal to the blower motor speed control. The cheaper easier fix is the speed control.

Ah yes. I replaced one in my wifes XC90 last year and it was bugger to get to.
