I finally finished adjusting my valves, changing the valve cover gaskets, plug well seals, spark plug wires, and spark plugs. All in all, it was pretty trouble free. I had a problem with one of the valve cover bolts but I was able to remove it. Also, when I was tightening up the bolts on the intake manifold, I dropped the 10mm socket in between the "snakes" where there is a space betweent the intake ports. I know I could have left it there but it would have moved around as I drove and that would have bugged the heck out of me. Plus, I don't like the thought of my 10mm socket being in there anyways. Most of my intake valves were in clearance but quite a few of the exhaust were out of spec. My rear exhaust shims were out of spec and the shims were very scratched up. The valve adjustment took me a while but I checked every shim because I was unsure of when the last valve adjustment was, or whether there was one even done. My cams all looked really good and the inside of my engine was very clean. I was very happily surprised. I was, also, suprised to see my valve covers so clean. They were the dirtiest valve covers I had ever seen on a SHO and now they look brand new. My intake also looks brand new except for the fact that it has shiny marks on it. After completing all of this it seems as though my car is louder. I'm not really sure why but it is definitely louder than before and there is a greater kick when the secondaries open up. My SHO feels much stronger at lower RPM's and pulls very smoothly to redline. Other than that, it is kind of hard to tell the results because I haven't driven my car in two days. This is my first time ever doing a project like this and the first part of the 60K I had Jeremy Thomas help me out in the summer months. I did this outside with no garage and the temp was around 40 degrees both days. One more thing to add. I completed this job without losing one single bolt or nut. I thought that was pretty amazing.
