It Was The Flywheel

Yeah... ALWAYS resurface it prior to installing a new clutch... always. You're never saving money by not doing it.

Yes, it was because I never resurfaced the flywheel.

Previous owner had the same problem. He must have installed his aftermarket clutch/PP(IPT stage 4) with out resurfacing the flywheel. Then I did it, so the flywheel was really fuct...

Well...an est. 800-1000 bucks later, problem solved. I've paid for the car twice already. Cool huh?

After a brand new ford clutch, pressure plate, tob, sleve kit etc....and my mechanic even added a 'wish-bone' mount to help keep the engine more stabalized. He said that because I have HD motor mounts(w/o rubber) it causes the engine to be a little louder and move a little more violent like. He believes this will help...He also informed me that my waterpump is leaking(imagine that, I've only changed 3 waterpumps on the 4 SHOs that I've had) So that will be a fun project in a few weeks.

Grand Total for Clutch job = 765 dollars. Picking the car up in the morning. I need some new tires pretty bad aswell. I thought the rear tires were basically brand new, but there is metal wiring showing on the inside tread wall.

The more I learn about this car, the more I wish I did not buy it, and that I kept the 89.

Previous owner said 'Waterpump was recenly installed'(yea okay) 'Just needs front tires'(not quite) and since working on the car I have found more stripped/loose bolts, its kindda scary. Ohhh well, what do you want for the money right?

But you know that now, right? I've never met someone who modded their car and drove it as nicely as someone who left it stock. Just my experience.

Hear me out first(you guys are right) I dont wanna say that I was ripped off, cause if you saw the car, just by looking at it you would see 1500 bucks...

765 clutch bill + water pump that is dying, and any hoses that need to be replaced will be = 1000 cash, good thing I know how to do a water pump, I just need to get a hold of 'good old uncle dave' who happens to run/have his own shop. Back to the subject at hand, i also need new tires, By my birthday(100% latest)(Feb 22) I will have paid for my car twice...obviously that is not unheard of, but I've put maybe 5K on her, and had it for maybe 4 months, if that.

Xerox is not laying me off this year it looks like(woohoo) so I dont have to be too tight with the cash, but after I get that waterpump done, thats it! Car is staying the way it is. The top side of the engine is good, first SHO I've had w/o oil in the plug wells. Spark plugs/wires are about 2 years old(previous owner did not drive in winter), SFBs are good, tranny/clutch damn sure better be good, ruff and tuff motor mounts with a custom 'wishbone' strut tower stabalizer(still gotta look at that, so I can tell you guys about it) My mechanic said I should get even more power to the ground with this new part. He put it in there to take a little stress of the motor mounts...hopefully it works

And as far as performance or aftermarket parts....quiafe would be the only thing I would do...I mean, I would really like to have a true N/A 300hp setup, but unless I inherit a stage IV kit, its not gonna happen.

I take some of that back, I would like on of Trojan Mans intake manifolds(BBB,Honed, gasket matched) His 90 that he has(N/A car) has the sickest N/A 3rd gear I have ever seen...I tried to tell him he got wheel one time shifting into 3rd at about 65 (down shift) he thought I was nuts...I heard it, I'm telling ya, anyway he makes his own parts and does his own work(damn good at it I might add) in that 90, when 4K comes around(tach) it REALLY opens up...nice deep leak free sound. Best I've ever heard.

But anyways, that would all I would do to the car. sleep


Auto Sho, I remember...you were not the only one who told me not to buy that car. A good trusted SHO mechanic that I know(Justin/Fowwulf) told me I was gonna catch SHO 'vd'(venarial disease) and man do I have a nasty itch right on the bottom of the motor(recently scratched for 800 bucks) and now on the opposite side, another waterpump leaking scratch....

Bottom line is that I should have never bought this 92 and kept the goold ol 89...I miss her, I miss Gen I period. Ohh wel sleep ,

Got the car back from the shop today. Good news, not the water pump...lower rad. hose.

That wishbone thing I was talking about is a wishbone type mount from a chevy 3.4(Z34)motor, what he did is he made a custom mount to replace the front engine dampener and added another mount. I took it out though, it will rattle your teeth right out of your head...puts the power to the ground...save it for track days I think. Solid motor mounts is more than adequate for daily driving.

More good news, 200 dollars was slashed on the price. An even 600 dollars for a new clutch, pp, tob, sleve kit, yadda, labor...not too shabby. I take back the negative things I MAY have said about previous owner, water pump looks okay.

Ohh yeah, lifetime warrenty on the clutch, you believe that shit?
